20、e products covered by this standard are intended for use in re protection service as outlined by the following Standards of the National Fire Protection Association: a) Installation of Sprinkler Systems, ANSI/NFPA 13; b) Installation of Standpipe, Private Hydrant, and Hose Systems, ANSI/NFPA 14; c)
21、Water Spray Fixed Systems for Fire Protection, ANSI/NFPA 15; and d) Installation of Private Fire Service Mains and Their Appurtenances, ANSI/NFPA 24. 1.3 The joints formed with the use of ttings covered by this standard prevent separation under pressure. 2 Components 2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2,
22、a component of a product covered by this standard shall comply with the requirements for that component. 2.2 A component is not required to comply with a specic requirement that: a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the component in the product covered by this s
23、tandard, or b) Is superseded by a requirement in this standard. 2.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating established for the intended conditions of use. 2.4 Specic components are incomplete in construction features or restricted in performance capabilities. Such components are int
24、ended for use only under limited conditions, such as certain temperatures not exceeding specied limits, and shall be used only under those specic conditions. 39、ile strength of 500 psi (3.4 MPa) and a minimum ultimate elongation of 100 percent. b) For natural rubber and synthetic rubber other than silicone rubber, a minimum tensile strength of 1500 psi (10.3 MPa) and minimum ultimate elongation of 150 percent; or a minimum tensile strength of 2200 psi (15.2
40、 MPa) and a minimum ultimate elongation of 100 percent. c) Those properties relating to maximum tensile set; minimum tensile strength and elongation after oven aging; and hardness after oven aging, all as specied in UL 157. The maximum service temperature used to determine the oven time and temperat
41、ure for oven aging is 60C (140F). 9.2 The Standard for Gaskets and Seals, UL 157, provides for the testing of either nished elastomeric parts or sheet or slab material. Sheet or slab material is to be tested when the elastomeric parts are O-rings having diameters of less than 1 inch (25.4 mm). The m
42、aterial tested is to be the same as that used in the product, regardless of whether nished elastomeric parts or sheet or slab material is tested. 10 Leakage Test 10.1 A rubber gasketed tting assembly with pipe shall withstand for 1 minute, without leakage, an internal hydrostatic pressure of two tim

No leakage of the tting shall occur as the pressure is increased to the test pressure. 10.2 Leakage tests are to be conducted on ttings assembled onto sections of pipe at least 15 inches (381 mm) in length. The pipe ends to be joined by the tting are to be prepared and assembl

The pressure is to be increased to twice the rated pressure and held for 1 minute. AUGUST 1, 2013 RUBBER GASKETED FITTINGS FOR FIRE-PROTECTION SERVICE - UL 213 6UL CO

The assembly is to be pressurized to rated pressure. 12.1.3 The required bending moment is calculated based on twice the weight of water lled pipe over twice the maximum distance between pipe supports specied in the St
