、INTRODUCTION 1 Scope 1.1 These requirements cover concrete masonry units classied for use in re resistive walls in accordance with the conditions of acceptance of the Standard for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials, UL 263. 1.2 Concrete masonry units are classied as follows: a) 2-hour

、 units are intended for use in re resistive walls having a rating of 2 hours or less. b) 3-hour units are intended for use in re resistive walls having a rating of 3 hours or less. c) 4-hour units are intended for use in re resistive walls having a rating of 4 hours or less. 1.3 A product that conta

A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems conict with specic requirements or provisions of this standard shall not be judged to comply with this standard. W

、here appropriate, revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted in conformance with the methods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this standard. 2 General 2.1 Components 2.1.1 Except as indicated in 2.1.2, a component of a product covered by this standard shall compl

、y with the requirements for that component. 2.1.2 A component need not comply with a specic requirement that: a) Involves a feature or characteristic not needed in the application of the component in the product covered by this standard, or b) Is superseded by a requirement in this standard. 2.1.3 A

、 component shall be used in accordance with its recognized rating established for the intended conditions of use. 2.1.4 Specic components are recognized as being incomplete in construction features or restricted in performance capabilities. Such components are intended for use only under limited con

、ditions, such as certain temperatures not exceeding specied limits, and shall be used only under those specic conditions for which they have been recognized. 27、SSION FROM UL 2.2 Units of measurement 2.2.1 If a value for measurement is followed by a value in other units in parentheses, the second value may be only approximate. The rst stated value is the requirement. 2.3 Undated references 2.3.1 Any undated reference to a code or standard appearing in the r

、equirements of this standard shall be interpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard. CONSTRUCTION 3 General 3.1 A concrete masonry unit shall conform to the following dimensions: a) Width (or thickness as laid in a wall) shall be not less than 7-5/8 inches (194 mm). b) Heig

Net volume (V) of the blocks is to be determined by a water displacement method of a number of blocks of each design. The blocks are to be soaked in water for 24 hours, remo

、g/m 3 ) nor more than 72 pounds per cubic foot (1153 kg/m 3 ). 6.5 Expanded slag aggregates, ne and coarse, shall consist of blast furnace slag in the form of cellular particles appearing in color from white bluff to slate or dark gray. The dry-rodded weight of the mixed ne and coarse aggregate shal

、l be not less than 35 pounds per cubic foot (560 kg/m 3 ) nor more than 70 pounds per cubic foot (1121 kg/m 3 ). 6.6 Pumice, ne and coarse, shall be in the form of porous particles, friable in character and predominantly light gray in color, with individual pieces varying from nearly white to slate.

、 The dry-rodded weight of mixed ne and coarse aggregate shall be not less than 35 pounds per cubic foot (561 kg/m 3 ) nor more than 50 pounds per cubic foot (801 kg/m 3 ). 6.7 Fly ash aggregate shall be obtained from the burning of pulverized coal and formed into agglomerates by a sintering process.

、 The dry-rodded unit weight of the y ash aggregate shall be not less than 50 pounds per cubic foot (801 kg/m 3 ) nor more than 70 pounds per cubic foot (1121 kg/m 3 ). When sand is mixed with y ash aggregate, the volume of sand shall not exceed 23 percent of the total volume, and the dry-rodded unit weight of the combined sand and y ash aggregate shall be not less than 50 pounds per cubic foot (801 kg/m 3 ) nor more than 78 pounds per cubic foot (1249 kg/m 3 )
