2、partment of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements, quality assurance provisions, and packaging of the turbine alternator (T/A) for the M734 Multi-Option Mortar Fuze. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 Government documents. 2.1.1 Specifications and standards. The following

3、specifications and standards form a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise specified the issues of these documents shall be those listed in the issue of the Department of Defense Index of Specifications and Standards (DoDISS) and supplement thereto, cited in the

In the event of aconflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein (except for associated detail specifications, specification sheets or: MS standar

11、ds), the text of this specification shall take precedence. Notling in this specification, however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specif ic exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Materials. Materials shall be in accordance with the applicable drawings and specific

12、ations. 3.2 First article inspection ?roper functioning. The cleaning method used shall not be injurious to any of the parts, nor shall the parts be contaminated. . 3.9.1 Bearing radii surface. The bearing radii surface, which forms the bearing inner races, shall be free of any flats, pits, bumps, t

13、ool marks, or any other surface irregularities, in excess of the specified finish . 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as spe

14、cified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any

15、of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Unless otherwise specified herein or in the contract, the provisions of MLL-A-48078 shall apply and are hereby made a part of this detail

16、specification. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of section 3 and 5. The inspections set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirement in the specifica

The following types of inspections shall be conducted on. this item: a. First article ins

See 4.5 4.4.4 Inspection equipment. The inspection equipment required to perform the examinations and test prescribed herein is descr

26、ibed in the “Paragraph Reference/Inspection Method“ column in the tables starting with paragraph 4.4.2.1. Calibration procedures shall conform to MIL-STD-45662. The contractor shall submit for approval inspection equipment designs in accordance with the terms of the contract. See Section 6 of MIL-A-

27、48078 and 6.3 herein. 4.5 Methods of inspection. 4.5.1 Materials, components and processes. Compliance with all requirements of Section 3 of this specification shall be ascertained by current and continuing examination of inspection and test data to determine that all components (parts, subassemblie

28、s, and materials) have been inspected and tested and found to comply with their respective drawing and specificatiun requirements, and that all specified manufacturing processes have been followed. 4.5.1.1 Visual and mecJhaniea1 inspection. The visual, manual, tactile and mechanical inspections and

29、tests shall verify compliance with the requirements of Section 3 and 5 of this specification in accordance with 4.4.2 herein, Figure 1 and Table I. 4.5.2 Temperature humidity test. A canple of thirty alternators shall be selected, inserted into Zummy M734 fuze bodies or other Government approved tes

30、t vehicles and subjected to the test as specified in MIL-STD-331, procedure 105. The test unit shall then be disassembled and the alternator be tested in accordance with 4.5.8.4 and 4.5.8.5. Any alternator that does not meet the performance requirements of 3.3.1.2 shall be classified defective. See

31、Figure 1. . 4.5.3 Maqnet to shaft pull test. The magnet and shaft assembly (dws. 11730640) shall be held stationary and an axial force of 120 .- pounds -shall -be applied to the magnet fr 10 seconds. that separates or moves from the shaft shall be classified defective. Any magnet 4.5.4 Maqnet crack

32、test. The magnet (dwg. 11722761) shall be spun at a speed of 140,000 rpm for 15 seconds while being held in an approved shaft-like fixture. Any magnet: that loses its physical integrity in any way shall be classified defective. 4.5.5 Bearinq lubricant mixture test. Weigh the evaporation dish to be u

33、sed. Weigh a sample of mixture into the evaporation dish. The depth of lubricant shall be no greater than .O10 inch. Place in an oven set at 1800F 5 1OOF for two hours. The weight of the residue shall be between 9.52% and 10.53% of the original lubricant weight. If the above criteria are not met, the lubricant mixture has .failed this test. 4

35、:5.6 Searing lubricant useage ratio test. - Draw a sample of the mixture after it is used for bearing lubrication. Weigh the evaporation dish to be used. Weigh a sample of inixture in the , evaporation dish. The depth of the lubricant shall be no greater than .O10 inch. Place the sample in an oven s

36、et at 1800F + 1OOF for two hours. Weigh the evaporation dish containing the residue and substract the weight of the evaporation dish. The weight of the residue shall be between 9.52% and 12.5% of the original lubricant weight. If the above criteria are not met, the bearing lot lubricated with this m

37、ixture has failed this test. 4.5.7 Turbine to shaft pull test. The turbine alternator or shaft shall be held stationary and an axial pull force of 10 pounds shall be applies to the turbine. Any turbine that separates from ttie shaft shall be classified defective. This test is considered to be a dest

38、ructive test. Note: even though this is a destructive test, turbines may be removed and replaced and units can be returned to the lot after removing and replacing the 10 blade turbine, 11722762, and retesting at ambient temperature in accordance with 4.5.8.1. 4.5.8 Alternator output test. The altern

39、ator shall be mounted O in a government approved test Set-up (see dwgs. 11730644 and 11730645) and subjected to the pressure and temperature conditions specified below. temperature for at least two hours. The test shall be initiated within 15 seconds after the alternator has been removed from the co

41、mperature test. The alternator shall be tested in accordance with 4.5.8 and at -50F shall meet the requirement of 3.3.1.1. requirement shall be classified defective. The alternator shall be tested in accordance with 4.5.8 and of -5OOF shall meet the requirement of 3.3.1.2. Any alternator thatdoes not meet the requir

44、ement shall be classified defective. 4.5.8.5 Hiqh pressure high temperature test. The alternator shall be tested in accordance with 4.5.8 and at +1450F shall meet the requirement of 3.3.1.2. Any alternator that does not meet the requirement shall be classified defective. 4.5.9 Coil resistance. The d

45、irect current resistance of the coil winding shall be measured using method 303 of MIL-STD-202 and shall meet the requirements of 3.3.2. 4.5.10 Bearinq Freeness. Carefully insert a needle gage between two balls of the bearing. Gently drive the ball complement for at least 900 of rotation, all 13 bal

46、ls shall rotate in the raceway, any bearing that exhibits restraint of ball movement within the 900 shall be classed defective. This test shall be .performed after the bearing ball complement has been size to .lo22 as per drawing (11723110 and 11723111) . 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Packinq. Alternators shall

47、be packaged in a clean economical container. The container shall limit the motion of the device within the container to 0.020 inch maximum in any direction, in accordance with MIL-P-116. 5.2 Marking. In addition to any special marking required by the contract, unit packages, intermediate packages, a

48、nd shipping. containers shall be marked in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-1169. 5.3 Records 5.3.1 Lot numberinq. Lot numbering shall be as specified in MIL-STD- 1168. 6.
