Mater

3、iais shall be in accordance with applicable drawings and specifications. 3 ,- 3.2 Components and assemblies. The components and assemblies shall comply with all requirements specified on drawing (dwg.) 8886595 and with all requirements specified in applicable specification and standards. 3.3 Proving

4、 ground. The cartridge shall comply with the following requirements when tested as specified in 4.5.1. 3.3.1 Functioning. The cartridge shall fire and function satisfactorily (see 6.5) and shall provide effective illumina- tion (see 6.6) for 60 seconds (sec.) minimum (min.) 3.3.2 Premature burst and

Unless otherwise specified herein or in the contract, the provisions of MIL-A-48078 shall apply and are hereby made a part of this detail specification. . . - . 4.2 Classification of inspection. The following types of

11、inspection shall1 be conducted on this item: a. First article inspection b. Quality conformance inspection 4.3 First article inspection 4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a first article sample as designated by the contracting officer for evaluation in accordance with provisions of 4.3.2.

12、 This requirement is applicable when loading of projectile and assembly of cartridge is accomplished at the same contractor facility. The first article sample shall consist of fifteen cartridge assemblies. 4.3.2 Inspections to be performed. See MIL-A-48078 and Table I specified herein. 4.3.3 Rejecti

Inspection lots shall comply with the lot formation provisions of- MIL-A-48078. addition, inspection lots shall contain: In . a. Loaded items of one lot interfix from one manu- fact urer 1. 18、Testing. 4.4.3.1 Proving qround. - 4.4.3.1.1 First article. The fifteen sample cartridge assemblies shall be fired in three groups of five rounds each in accordance with 4.5.1. compliance with the criteria specified in Table I. The inspection equipment required to per

25、form the examinations and tests prescribed herein is described in the “Paragraph Reference/Inspection Method“ column in the tables starting with paragraph 4.4.2.1. The contractor shall submit for approval inspection equipment designs in accordance with the terms of the contract. See Section 6 of MIL

26、-A-48078 and 6.3 herein. 4.5 Methods of inspection 4.5.1. Proving ground. The cartridge shall be fired from a 4.2“ mortar for which the round is standard and in accordance with Table II. However, if meteorological con- ditions or time of fuze functioning so dictate, the proving ground shall adjust t

27、he fuze in order to increase the height of burst and insure effective illumination (see 6.6). 28、to fire, premature burst, security of parts, parachute functioning and effective illumination (see 6.6). In addition, muzzle velocity, time of fuze functioning, height of first light, delay time from fuze functioning to chute opening and rate of descent shall be recorded for information only for eac

29、h round tested. Any malfunction occuring during the test shall be reported in the firing record. Meteorological data shall also be reported in the official firing record. 30、If for any reason the proof director considers the test conditions have detrimentally affected the test results, he shall declare the results invalid and perform a new test. 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Packaging requirements. Packaging shall be as specified on dwg. 7549247. 5.2 Packinq and marking. Packing and

31、 marking shall be as specified on dwgs. 7549247 and 7549248. 6. NOTES 6.1 Intended use. 34、es is now under the cognizance of ARRADCOM. 6.5 Satisfactory functioning. Satisfactory functioning shall be defined as ejection of the parachute and illuminant assembly and proper suspension and ignition of the illuminant. 6.6 Effective illumination. Effective illumination is defined as burning of t

35、he canister without exploding or break- ing up while suspended by the parachute. The time recorded from the appearance of first light from the candle to either (1) burnout of the candle while still in the air (normal burst) or (2) burning of the candle until ground impact. Burning of Che canister af

36、ter striking the ground shall not be considered as Iteffective illumination“. Any occurrences which detract from “effective illumination“ as herein defined, shall be recorded on the official firing record. 1 for “effective illumination“ shall be considered as the time 6.7 Combining of proving ground

37、 tests. When the contrac- tor for the cartridge is the contractor for one or more of the components thereof ,-the proving ground tests of the components may be combined with the proving ground tests of the cartridge, upon agreement between the procuring activity and the contrac- tor. In all cases wh

38、ere the cartridge specification does not cover all the proving ground tests specified for the component, the additional tests specified in the component specifications shall be conducted. make the necessary arrangements to recover all malfunctions which may occur during the ballistic test unless oth

39、erwise directed by the procuring activity. The terrain from the gun site down range to impact shall be suitable so that all rounds fired including malfunctions will be accessible for recovery. 6.8 Recovery of malfunctions.
