When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.1) in accordance with 4.2. .3.2 M
15、aterial. The contractor shall select the material, but the material shall be capable of meeting all of the operational and environmental requirements specified herein. The material specified on Drawing 11-1-3220, and all subsidiary drawings and parts lists pertaining thereto, is recommended, but is
16、not mandatory. 3.3 Construction and supplementary process. The construction and supplementary process used in tha manufacture of the cargo parachute releases shall conform to the requirements specified or shown on drawing 11-1-3220, and all subsidiary drawings and parts lists pertaining thereto, and

American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard No. B46.1, shall apply for the interpretation of surfa
18、ce roughness values specified on the applicable drawings. 3.5 Performance. 3.5.1 Carso parachute connector ziroofload. The cargo parachute connector shall show no visual evidence of failure (such as a fracture or permanent deformation) when subjected to a tensile proofload of 45,000 pounds for 15 se
19、conds when tested as described in 4.12.3. 3.5.2 Release assemblv ziroofload. The release assembly shall show no visual evidence of failure (such as a fracture or permanent deformation) when subjected to a tensile proofload of 135,000 pounds for 15 seconds when tested as described in 4.11.4. 3.5.3 Re
20、lease assemblv unlockinq. At completion of the timer unwinding cycle, the timer shall retract the toggle lock slides to the unlocked position with no evidence of interference when tested as specified in 4.11.4. 3-5.4 Release assembly, functional. The release assembly shall show no evidence of interf
21、erence when subjected to the no load testing as specified in 4.11.5. 3.5.5 Delav timins cycle. The delay timing cycle shall be 25 seconds,plus or minus 3 seconds, from start to completion. There shall be no evidence of interference in retracting the toggle lock slides to the unlocked position after
22、completion of the unwinding cycle when tested as specified in 4.11.1. 3.5.6 Delav timer retraction arms. When functionally tested as specified in 4.11.2, the retraction arms shall rotate through an angle of 23 degrees during the timing cycle. At completion of the timing cycle, the arms shall retract
23、 to the unwound position, tangent to the timer housing surface. Suggested reference drawing 11-1-3250 indicates the position and tolerances of the retraction arms movement. 3.5.7 Government furnished DroDertv. The following items, when required for proofload testing of the release assembly, separate
24、ly procured cargo parachute connectors or timer assemblies, may be obtained from the procuring activity on a loan basis (see 6.3). Identification marking shall be in accordance with the legends and locations as shown on the referenced drawings. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of insDections. The inspection requirements
26、 specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.2). 4.2 First article inspection. First article inspection shall be performed on one complete release assembly if a first article sample is required (see 3.1). This inspection Shall include the examinations of 4.3. 4.3 E
27、xamination. Each release assembly shall be examined for compliance with the requirements specified in 3.2 through 3.5. This element of inspection shall encompass all visual examinations (4.9) and dimensional measurements (4.10) and the tests of (4.11). Noncompliance with any specified requirements o
28、r presence of one or more defects preventing or lessening maximum efficiency shall constitute cause for rejection of the lot. 4.4 End item visual examination. The end items shall be examined for the defects listed in Table I. Noncompliance with any specified requirements or presence of one or more d

In accordance with 4.x, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, am
30、ended, modified or qualified in this specification or applicable purchase document. 4.6 In-process inspection. Inspection of subassemblies shall be made to ascertain that construction details which cannot be examined in the finished product are in accordance with specified requirements. Whenever non
31、conformance is noted, correction shall be made to affected items and process. Items that cannot be corrected shall be removed from the process. The Government reserves the right to exclude from consideration for acceptance, any material or service for which in-process inspection has indicated noncon

Prior to assembly, but after heat treatment and application of protective finish, the toggle and th
33、e front and rear housing shall be examined for conformance to the dimensions indicated on their respective drawings. The finding of any defect shall be cause for the rejection of the lot. 4.7 Heat treatment inspection and hardness tests. Heat treated parts shall be inspected to determine compliance
34、with requirements specified on the applicable drawings. The finding of any defect shall be cause for rejection of the lot. 4.8 Masnetic particle inspection. Each release assembly shall be inspected as specified in accordance with ASTM E 1444 for determination of compliance with applicable drawing re
35、quirements. 4.9 End item visual examination. The end items, defined as completely fabricated units of the Release Assembly being purchased, shall be examined for the defects listed in table I. The lot size shall be expressed in units of Release Assemblies. The sample unit shall be one release assemb
36、ly. The finding of any defect shall be cause for the rejection of the lot. TABLE I. The end item shall be examined for conform
40、ance to the dimensions specified on the drawings. Only those dimensions that can be evaluated without damaging or disassembling the end item shall be examined. Any dimensions not within the specified tolerance shall be classified as a defect. The sample unit shall be one release assembly. The findin
41、g of any defect shall be cause for rejection of the lot. 4.11 End item testinq. 4.11.1 Release assemblv and connector. Cargo parachute connectors and release assemblies (proofload, unlocking and functional) shall be tested as specified in 4.11.3, 4.11.4, and 4.11.5 for compliance with the requiremen
42、ts of 3.5.2, 3.5.3, 3.5.4, respectively. The lot size shall be no more than 50 completely assembled cargo parachute connectors or complete release assemblies. The sample unit shall be one completely assembled cargo parachute connector or complete release assembly. Cargo parachute connectors showing
43、any visual evidence of failure (fracture or permanent deformation) shall be cause for rejection of the lot. Release assemblies showing any visual evidence of failure (fracture or permanent deformation) of any component of the release assembly, exclusive of the cargo parachute connectors and time del
44、ay assembly, or failure of the time delay assembly to retract the toggle lock slides freely and without interference to the unlocked position shall be cause for rejection of the lot. 4.11.2 Timer. The timer shall be tested as specified in 4.11.7 and 4.11.8 for compliance with the requirements of 3.5
45、.5 and 3.5.6 respectively. The lot size shall be expressed in units of timers. 46、.3 Caruo Darachute connector Droofload testinq. The cargo parachute connector to be tested shall be installed in a contractor test fixture. The test fixture shall be attached to a direct reading device capable of imposing a 45,000 pound tensile force on the fixture and test item. A proofload of 45,0
47、00 pounds shall be applied to the connector at a rate of not less than 3,000 pounds/second nor greater than 6,000 pounds/second. The connector shall withstand the tensile load for 15 seconds after which the load shall be reduced to zero. The proofload of 45,000 pounds shall be immediately re-applied
48、, held for 15 seconds, and again reduced to zero. 4.11.4 Release assemblv woofload and unlockina testinq. The release assembly shal.1 be assembled with seven cargo parachute connectors and with a timer delay assembly (GFP,see 6.3), installed in the locked position. The locked position requires turni
49、ng the timer stem approximately 90 degrees clockwise to engage the toggle lock slides with the toggle,inserting the arming wire through the hole in the timer stem. Rectangular holes are provided in the side plates of the release to ensure alignment of the toggles and toggle lock slides before turning the timer stem. The complete assembly shall then be mounted in a contractor furnished test fixture. The test fixture shall be attached to a c
