REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Samples. 3.1.1 First article, When specified (see 6.21, a sample shall be subjected to first article in
14、spection (see 6.3) in accordance with 4.3. 3.1.2 Guide samples. Guide samples, when furnished, are solely for guidance and information to the contractor (see 6.4). may appear in the sample, in which case this specification shall govern. Variations from this specification 3.2 Materials. It is encoura
15、ged that recycled material be used when practical as long as it meets the requirements of this specification. 3.2.1 Coated cloth. The coated cloth shall be butyl coated nylon cloth conforming to MIL-C-12189. 3-2.2 Bias binding. The bias binding for the snout ring shall be cut from the coated fabric

17、apping; The strapping used toseai the seams shall be 3/4 +1/8, -0 inch wide and shall be made from the coated fabric specified in 3.2.1, straight or bias cut, except that a cotton-base cloth may be used in place of nylon provided the finished coated cloth meets the requirements of MIL-C-12189. 3.2.4
18、 Cement, The cement used to adhere the strapping to the seams shall be of the self-curing neoprene or butyl base type, pigmented to match the color of the coated cloth or clear. The cement, when applied and tested as specified in 4.4.1, shall not crack or flake when subjected to the cold crack test
19、and the hydrostatic resistance of the cement coated cloth shall be not less than 90 percent of the actual hydrostatic value of the butyl coated cloth prior to cementing. 3.2.5 Thread, polyester. The thread for all stitching shall be type I, class 1, sub-class A, conforming to V-T-285 except that col
20、orfastness requirements shall not apply, The size shall be as specified in table I. The thread shall be dyed Olive Drab S-1, C.A. 66022, 3.2.6 Tape, cotton. The cotton tape shall conform to type I, class la, 1/2 inch wide, of MIL-T-43566 except the tape shall be dyed Olive Drab 7. 3,2.7 Braid. All b
21、raid shall conform to class 4 of MIL-B-371 and shall be dyed Olive Drab 7. The type shall be as specified below., 3,2.7.1 Braid for neck drawcord. The braid for the neck drawcord shall be type II. to prevent ravelling. The ends of the braid shall be resin dipped or tipped 3/4 ? 1/8 inch 3.2.7.2 Brai
22、d for eye holes and snout. The braid for the eye holes and snout drawcord shall be type VII, The ends of the braid shall be stitched (see table I, operation 3c) or resin dipped or tipped 3/4 2 1/8 inch to prevent ravelling. 3.2.8 Buckle. The buckle shall be tongueless, one-bar, 5/8 inch, conforming
23、to type I, style 2, class 1, construction B of MIL-B-543. 3.2.9 Snap fasteners. The snap fasteners shall conform to style 2A, finish 2 of MIL-F-10884. The size of the button and the eyelet components shall be selected by the contractor and shall be of sufficient length to provide a firm cl inch. 3.2
24、.10 Slide keeper. The slide keeper for the neck drawcord shall be rectangular, made of vinyl chloride polymer or copolymer and be pigmented Olive Drab or Black. It shall be sufficiently flexible for the purpose intended and shall have a hardness of 70 2 10 when tested as specified in 4.4.1. The slid
25、e keeper shall measure 1-1/4 2 1/16 inches by 3/4 t 1/16 inch by 1/8 ?. 1/16 inch. Two 1/4 2 1/32 inch round holes shall be located on the center line parallel to the 3/4 inch dimension, with each hole 5/16 2 1/16 inch from the end of the keeper, color black, acetal polymer, or equal (see 6.6). Before applying the cement; the seam, the area along the seam where the strapping makes contact,
