6、ject to wear, breakage, or distortion shall be accessible for adjustment and repair. 3.2.1 Safetg devices. Each nut runner- shall be furnished with safety devices. Pai-ts which are hazardous to the operator shall be guarded. Protection against electric shock shall be provided. When specified (see 6.
7、2), special safety devices shall be provided. 3.23 Lubrication. All bearings (except sealed-for-fife-type) , mating gears, and slid- ing parts shall be provided with means for lubrication. The reservoirs of splash type systems shall be fitted with oil level sight gages. Automatic force feed and manu
8、ally operated force feed systems shall be sup plied with a filter. Manually operated systems for ways and remote areas shall have control handles mounted in an accessible location. AU oil holes, grease fittings and filler caps shall be easily accessible. 3.2.3 Interchangeability. All parts shall be
9、manufactured to such standards as will per- mit replacement or adjustment without modification. 3.2.4 Materhl, Al1 pails used in the fabri- cation of the machine shall be new and of the qualiy necessary to produce a machine to meet the requirements described herein. 3.3 Construction. The machine sha
10、ll be complete so that when connected to the spe- cified source of power it can be used for any operation for which it was designed. Con- struction shall be free from any character- istics or defects that will prevent the ma- chine from passing any of the inspections and tests in paragraph 4.3. 3.3.
11、1 Castings and foygngs. All castings and forgings shall be free from defects, scale, and mismatching. In no event shall such proceses as welding, peening, plugging, or filling with cold solders or metallic pastes be used on castings or forgings for reclaiming any parts of the nut runner without auth
12、or- ization 3.3.2 Welding, byazing o? soWeq%tg. Weld- ing, brazing or soldering shall be employed only where those operations are included in fabrication of the original design. These operations shall not be employed as repair measures for defective parts. 3.3.3 Fastening devices. All screws, pins,
13、bolts, and similar parts shall be installed with means for preventing loss of tightness. All such pai% when subject to removal or ad- justment shall not be swaged, peened, staked, or otheiwise permanently defoimed. 3.3.4 Suyfuces. All surfaces of all castings, forgings, molded parts, stampings, and
14、welded parts shall be cleaned and free from sand, dirt, fins, sprues, scale, flux or other harmful or extraneous materials. External surfaces shall be smooth and all edges shall be either rounded or beveled. 3.3.5 Painting. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the machine shall be painted in ac- co
15、rdance with the manufacturers standard commercial practice. 3.3.6 ThTe is per- formed on the shipping container. 5.2.2 Level B. The nut runner and screw- driver shall be packed in a snug-fitting fiber- board box, wirebound wood, wood-cleated ply- wood, wood-cleated fiberboard, or nailed wood box con
16、forming respectively to Specification PPP-B-636 (class 1) , PPP-B-640 (class I), PPP-B-585 (class 1), PPP-B-601 (domestic type), PPP-B-591 (domestic type) or PPP- B-621 (class 1). Boxes shall be closed and strapped in accordance with the applicable box specification or the appendix thereto. Gross we
17、ight shall not exceed 200 pounds. Specification PPP-B-636 (class l), contain- ers offer an economical container for loads up to 70 pounds. The packages shall withstand the rough handling test prescribed in Spe- cification MIL-P-116 when test is performed on the shipping container. Licensed by Inform

The nut runner and screw- driver shall be packed to afford adequate protection against damage during shipment within the Continental United States direct from the supply source to the first receiving activity. This level as a minimum will con- form to applicable
19、 carrier rules and regula- tions. 5.3 Marking. In addition to any special marking required by the contract or order, unit packaged, intermediate packages, and shipping containers shall be marked in ac- cordance with Standard MIL-STD-129. 6. NOTES 6.1 Intended use. The nut runner and screwdriver desc
20、iibed in this specification is intended for use in assembly and disassembly operations involving the tightening or loosening of nuts, screws, and bolts of sizes specified in table I. Proper torque setting is obtained by use of a torque measuring ma- chine. Torque setting may also be accom- plished b
21、y adjusting the nut runner so that loosening torque (measured by a hand torque wrench) is the same for an assembly tight- ened by the nut runner as when tightened by a hand torque wrench. The nut runner is fur- nished in three sizes as shown in figure l. 6.2 Ordering data. Procurement documents shou
