9、REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material. - Material shall be as specified herein, Material not definitely specified shall be of good commercial quality entirely suitable for the purpose. Material shall be free from all defects and imperfections that might affect the serviceability of the preservation, packing and
10、 packaging. 3.2 Genelal requirements. - The components of Modification Kit MX-898( )/GR shall be packaged in accordance with procedures specified for the desigpated methods as prescribed in Specification MIL-P-116 and further described in the following paragraphs. 3.3 Preservation and packaging. - 3
11、.3.1 Domestic immediate use, - Modification Kit MX-898( )/GR shall be packaged to afford protection against deterioration and damage during shipment. 3.3.2 Domestic limited storage. - Modification Kit MX-898( )/GR shall be packaged in accordance with Specification MIL-P-116 as follows. 13、C-3 as follows. Inclose each technical literature within a close-fitting, Type II, Class b bag conforming to Specification JAN-P-117. Properly seal closure. 3.3.2.2 Roll CW-l87/GR, Bag CW-l88/GR. - Package each roll and each bag Method III as follows. Fold each item neatly into a bundle of proportio
14、nate dimensions and suitably tie with cotton tape. Cushion each bag by wrapping in flexible corrugated paper conforming to Specification LLL-F-291, securing the cushioning with gummed paper tape conforming to Specification UU-T-111. 3.3.2.3 Handset H-33( )/PT. - Package each handset Method III as fo
15、llows. Wind the cord evenly arourrd.the handset and secure by-tying or by-means of suitable tape. Cushion each handset as specified in 3.3.2.2. 3.3.2.4 Mast Sections AB-22/GR, AB-23/GRY AB-24/GR, - Package mast sections, including spares in accordance with Specification MIL-M-12320. 3.3.2.5 Power Ca
16、ble Assembly CX-l209/U and CX-l2lO/U. - Package each cable assembly individually Method III as follows. Wind each cable assembly into a coil of proportionate dimensions and tie at 3 places with cotton tape, securing the cable termi- nals to the coil with the ties, Cushion each cable assembly individ
17、ually by wrapping within flexible corrugated paper, securing the cushioning with gummed paper tape. 3.3.2.6 Battery Box ICase CY-590/GRC). - Package each battery box Method III as follows, Inclose each battery box within a snug conforming wrap of flexible corru- gated paper. 18、ms with gummed paper tape. 3.3.2.7 Antenna Connector MT-652. - Package each antenna connector Method III following procedures specified in 3.3.2.6. 3.3.2.8 Consolidated package, - Consolidate the items packaged as specified in 3.3.2.1 through 3.3.2.7, together within a corrugated fiberboard box, Con
19、forming to Specification LLL-B-631. Fill all voids with flexible corrugated paper to prevent movement, Seal box closures, corners and joints with gummed paper tape. 3.3.2.9 Generator .G-8/GRC. - 3.3.2.9.1 Disassembly. - Disassemble the 2 cranks and the 3 legs from the gen- erator. All hardware remov
20、ed in the disassembly operation shall be inclosed within a cloth draw string bag and suitably secured to the component from which removed. Continue packaging following applicable procedures specified in 3.3.2.9.3. 3.3.2.9.5 Consolidated package. - Consolidate the items packaged as specified in 3.3.2.9.2 through 3.3.2.9.4 following procedures specified in 3.3.
24、2.8. 3.3.3 Military overseas. - Preserve and package components of Modification Kit MX-898( )/GR in accordance with procedures specified for the designated methods as prescribed in Specification MIL-P-116 and further described in the following paragraphs. 3.3.3.1 Technical literature. - Package each

28、bly within an individual close-fitting bag, fabricated of water-vapor-proof barrier material, qualified for Class 2 application conforming to Specification MIL-B-131. 30、ps where they meet in the center. Close battery box and secure all fastenings. Cushion each battery box on all surfaces with cells or pads or both fabricated of corrugated fiberboard, designed to take up the shock of impact normally encountered in handling and transit and conforming to Specification
31、 19-10 (A or C flutes acceptable). Place each cushioned battery box within a close-fitting suitable style and grade corrugated fiberboard box conforming to Specification LLL-B-631. Seal all box closures, corners and joints with gummed paper tape. 3.3.3.7 Antenna Connector MT-652. - Package each ante
32、nna connector Method IA-8 following applicable procedures specified in 3.3.3.5. 3.3.3.8 Consolidated package. - Consolidate the items packaged as specified in 3.3.3.1 through 3.3.3.7 following procedures specified in 3.3.2.8, except the carton used shall conform to Specification JAN-P-108 and the se
33、aling tape used shall be water-resistant, pressure-sensitive tape conforming to Specification JAN-P-127. 3.3.3.9 Generator G-8/GRC. - 3.3.3.9.1 Disassembly. - Disassembly shall be as specified in 3.3.2.9.1. .3.3.3.9.2 Technical manuals. - Package each technical manual Method IC-3 following procedure
34、s specified in 3.3.2.1. 3.3.3.9.3 Cranks, legs. - Package cranks and legs Method III following procedures specified in 3.3.2.9.3. 3.3.3.9.4 Generator G-8/GRC. - Package each generator Method IIb as follows. Place spare fuses within the bag within the generator. Cushion each generator on all surfaces
35、 with cells or pads or both fabricated of corrugated fiberboard, conforming to Specification 19-10, and designed to absorb the shock of impact normally encountered in handling and transit. Place each cushioned generator, together with the required amount of desiccant as prescribed in Specification M
36、IL-P-116 within a close-fitting, suitable style and grade corrugated fiberboard box. Seal entire closure with gummed paper tape conforming to Specification UU-T-111. Blunt all corners of the box. Place the boxed generator within a water-vapor-proof barrier, qualified for Class 1 application in accor
37、dance with the requirements of Specification MIL-B-131. Heat seal closure. Place the water-vapor-proofed generator within a close-fitting, suitable style and grade fiberboard box conforming to Specification LLL-B-631. Seal entire box closures, corners and joints with gummed paper tape. 3.3.3.9.5 Con

40、d Freight Classification Rules at lowest rates. 3.4.2 Domestic limited storage. - The Modification Kit MX-898( )/GR shall be packed in wood cleated plywood, nailed wood or wirebound boxes conforming to Speci- fication NN-B-621, NN-B-631 or PPP-B-601. The gross weight shall not exceed 65 pounds for f
41、iberboard boxes and 200 pounds for plywood or wood boxes. Closure shall be made in accordance with the applicable box specification. 3.4,3 Military overseas. - Place one each consolidated package specified in 3.3.3.8 and one each consolidated package specified in 3.3.3.9 together within a wood cleat
42、ed plywood, nailed wood or wirebound box conforming to the requirements of Specification PPP-B-601, JAN-P-106 or MIL-B-107 respectively. Fabricate the box to fit the contents snugly. As required, suitably block and brace the contents to prevent movement. Close each shipping container as specified in
