SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers three types of non-hygroscopic first fire compositions (se

2、e 6.1). Type I - yellow Type II - red Type III- green 2 APPLICABTJ3 DOCUMEIJTS 2.1 The following documents of the issue in effect on date of invitation for bids form a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The barium nitrate shall comply trith the requirements of Specification T:ITJ-3-162, except that the average particle size shall be twenty(29) r?-crons, na.ximum. 3.1.2 Strontium nitrate. !?he strontiun nitrate shall comply

7、with the requirements of Specification MIL-S-20322, Grade A or E, 3.1.3 Silicon. The silicon shall Se pot;?ered and 11 comply with the requirements of Speclficatlon :?IL-E- 239, except that the average particle size shall be 10 microns, maximm. 3.1.4 Tetranitrocarbazole. The tetrmitrocarhazole shall

8、 comply with the requirements of Specification TTIL-Y-lz723. 3.1.5 Polyvinyl chloride. The polyvinyl chloricle shall 3.2 Composition. 11、 Moisture content. The moisture content of the first-fire composition shall be not more than 0.1 percent. 3.4 Burning rate. QUAIJTY ASSURATqCE PROVISIOIJS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless othamqise specified in the contract Or purchase order, the is responsible

The Government reserves the right to Perfo

15、rm any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. A statement that the lot complies with all of the quality assurance provisions specif

17、ied in this specification. b. Specification number and date, together with identification and date of changes thereto. C. Certificates of analysis on all materials used directly by the contractor when such materials are controlled by Government specifications shall be nade available upon request by

18、the Contracting Officer. d. Quantity of product in the lot. e. Date submitted. The certificate shall be signed by a responsible agent of the CertifYing organization. The initial certificate submitted shall be substantiated by evidence of the agents authority to bind his principal. Substantiation of

19、the agents authority Will not be requred with subsequent certificates unless, during the course of the Contract, this authority is vested in another agent of the certifying organization. Except as otherwise specif.f_ed in the 4.1.1 Submission of product. At the time each completed 4.2 First article

The first article shall consist of eight(8) of flrfft-fire composition in accordance with instructions issued by the Contracting Officer. All samples submitted shall have been prod

22、uced by the contractor using the same production processes, procedures, and equipment as will be used in fulfilling the contract. All materials, including packaging and packing, shall be obtained from the same sources of supply as will be used in regular production. be accompanied by certificates of

A first article quantity, or portion thereof, as ciirected by the Contracting Officer, shall also be submitted whenever there is a lapse in production for a period in excess of 90 days, or whenever a change occurs in manufacturing process, material used, drawing, specification or source o

26、 Rejection. If any sanple fails to cornply with any of the applicaSle requirenents, the first article quantity shall be rejected. the right to terminate its inspection upon any failure of a sample to comply with any of the stated requirements. The Government reserves 4.3 Inspection provisions 4.3.1

27、Lot formation. A lot shall consist of one or more batches of first fire composition produced by one maniifact in accordance with the same specification, or same specification revision, under one continuous set of operating conditions. Each lot shall consist of that quantity of first fire composition

28、 that has been subjected to the sale unit chemical or physical mixing process intended to make the final product homogeneous. The product shall be submitted for inspection in accordance with NIL-STD-105 (or KIL-SmD-1235 when applicable). The criteria and procedures for the assignment of lot numbers

For the tests given in 4.4.1 thru 4.4.5 the containers in the lo

30、t shall be divided into two (2) equal size groups. For each of these rouPs an individual sample shall be prepared in such a manner that the sample obtained is truly representative of the contents of the containers sampled. Randomly select containers for sampling in accordance with MIL-SmD-105. Howev

31、er, il each group contains less than five (5) containers, select all containers for sampling. Withdraw, approximately, equal portions of the. powder from each selected container, in such quantity that the aggregate weight of the portions of the samples shall be approximately 200 grams. Use the metho

32、d described in ASTI E300 for solids for withdrawing the samples. Combine these portions and thoroughly mix. Perform the tests given in 4.4.1 thru 4.4.5 on the two samples formed. If either sample fails to meet the specified requirements in Section 3, the lot shall be rejected. The classification and

The sample shall he Prepared in accordance with method 102.1 in MIL-SID-1234 prior to the followinE determinations. dried sample in the crucible (see 4.4.1) shall be extracted with ten 20 ml portions of distilled water, stirrine each

36、portion and allowing it to remain in contact with the residue for approximately 1 minute before applying suction. The sample after the tenth extraction shall he tested for complete extraction hy treating a few drops of the extracting liquid on a white spot plate with a few drops of a 1 percent diphe

37、nylamine solution in concentrated sulfuric acid. If a blue coloration develops, additional washings shall be used and retest made, The crucible and contents shall be transferred to an oven at 100 2 5OC for 1 hour, coolec? to a room temperature in a desiccator and weighed. ?te crucible and contents s

42、n a clean 250 ml beaker. of concentrated sulfuric acid shall be added to the beaker containing the crucible. The beaker and contents shall he gently warmed on a steam bath and the crucible OccaslonallY rotated until all of the zirconium hydride is in solution. This wll be evidenced by a cessation of

43、 the evolution of hydrogen gas produced in the reaction. The beaker with crucible shall be transferred to a hot plate at high heat ad concentrated nitric acid carefully added dropwise imt3-1 all the oreanic material present is completely oxidized. This will he evidenced b;r a permanent clarity of th

44、e solution. ?.he solution shall be allowed to fume until a volume of approximately 35 ml remains. The solution shall be cooled to room temperature and sufficient distilled water, to make a volume of approximately 190 ml, shall be added cautiously under a watch glass. The crucible skiall be removed f

45、rom the solution with the aid of forceps. Holding the crucible above the beaker, it shall be washed with 50 rnl of distilled water so that the washings are quantitatively transferre to the beaker. !?he solution shall be stirred thoroughlp with a glass rod and allowed to cool to room temperature. The

46、 crucible, thus washed, shall be placed on a Fisher Filtrator containing a 400 ml beaker. retained in the 250 ml beaker quantitatively transferred to the original crucible. The 250 ml beaker and the crucible and contents shall be washe tliroughly with additional 50 ml of water. into the 400 ml beal:
