This specification covers the requirements, quality assurance provisions, testing and packaging of a probe for use in the TOW-2A Guided Missile. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.

The TOW-2/E6 Probe and S&A Assembly is an extendible device tu increase warhead standoff containing an explosive charge assembly to defeat improved armor.
13、A crush switch is provided at the forward tip of the probe and at the ogive immediately forward of the warhead. The probe is mechanically locked in the stowed position prior to launch and extends immediately after launch. The probe is actuated by a bore rider and extends by use of springs. Upon impa
14、ct the charge assembly detonates and after a specified delay, the main charge initiates. 3.4 Safety and arming device. The Safety and Arming (S&A) Device shall conform to all requirements of MIL-S-14799. The S&A shall be in the safe condition for shipping. The piston actuator shall not be fired, the
15、 spring detent shall remain in the G-leaf slot and the rotor shall remain in the unaligned position. The piston actuator spacer (dwg. 9231496) shall be present. No shorting screw shall be present. 3.5 Storaqe temperature. The probe shall be able to meet all requirements when tested in the operationa
16、l temperature range after it has been exposed to storage temperatures between -65OF and +155OF in the stowed position. 3.6 Transportation vibration. The probe with an inert S&A and an inert charge assembly shall not be visibly damaged and shall be able to meet all requirements after it is has been s
17、ubjected to the transportation vibration test. 3.7 Launch shock. The probe with an inert S&A and an inert charge assembly shall not be visibly damaged and shall be able to meet all requirements after it has been subjected to the launch shock test. 3.8 Operational temperature. The probe shall be able

The
28、 contractor shall generate data in accordance with requirements of data item description cited in 6.4. 3.23 Workmanship. The TOW-2/E6 Probe and S&A Assembly and its components shall be fabricated and finished in a thorough, workmaniike manner and shall be free of bu-rrs, chips, sharp-edges, unblende
29、d radii, cracks, surface defects, dirt, grease, rust, corrosion products and other foreign matter. Wires shall not be damaged during or after assembly. Solder connections shall be in accordance with DOD-STD-2000. The cleaning methods used shall not be injurious to any part, nor shall parts be contam
30、inated by the cleaning agents. All required markings shall be clearly legible. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspections. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of al1 inspection requirements as specifi
31、ed herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of t
32、he inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Unless otherwise specified herein or in the contract, the provisions of MIL-A-48078 shall apply and are hereby made a part of this specificati

All items must meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractor
34、s overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with a1.1 requirements of the contract. S
35、ampling in quality conformance does not authorize subinission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material. 4.2 Classification of LzspectLqG. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. F
36、irst article inspection (see 4.3) b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4) 4.3 First article inspection. 4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a first article sample as designated by the Contracting Officer, for evaluation in accordance with provisions of 4.3.2. The first article sample s
37、hall consist of 36 probes and 10 each of every subassembly and 20 each of every component. First article testing samples shall not Se considered part of the production quantities. 4.3.2 Inspection-to be performed. See MIL-A-48078 and Table I herein. Examine and test in the order listed the first 36
38、TOW-2/E6 Probe and S&A Assemblies in accordance with Table I and Figure I. Only gages or instruments approved byu tne Government will be permitted to conduct the necessary inspections. 4.3.3 Rejection. See MIL-A-48078. 4.3.4 Completion. Upon completion of first article testing all probes, subassembl
