O!?OOl. A sample of 315 primers shall be selected at random from each lot. If 3 or more primers

8、fail to comply xith the requirement specified, the lot shall be rejected. If one or two defectives are found, a second sample of 315 primers shall be selected a random and tested. If in the combined first and second sample a total of 4 or more defectives are found, the lot shall be rejected. The tes

9、t shall be performed as specified in 4.3.3.1 using test equipment as specified in 4.2.4. 4 :2.3.3.2 aspirated with suction and the bottom of the crucible wiped dry, using tissue paper. The washing shall be continued, using one more 3.0 ml. portion, two 2.0 ml. and two 1.0 nil. portions, making a tot

10、al of 12.0 ml. The crucible shall be removed and the bottom of the crucible. the funnel, the adapter and the suction flask washed with water. The test tube shall be placed in the flask and the stem of the filter- ing funnel inserted into the test tube. The crucible and contents shall be washed with

11、one 1.0 ml. portion of Solution Number 1 as above, and aspirated with suction, catching the filtrate in the test tube, The test tube shall be removed, 1.0 ml. of distilled water added and the chlorzte ion, determined as follows. The tube shall be inclined at an angle of about 4.5 degrees ana from a

12、dropper about 0.0 ml. of a solution containkg 1.0 gm. of diphenylamine in 100 gm. cf concentrated salfuric acid shall be run down the side of the tube, so that there will )e two distinct layers. If an appreciable amomt of chlorate ion is present, a distinct b1i:e ring will be visible at the border o

13、f the two layers. On shaking the tube, the ring disappears, but the coiiteiits assume a blue coloiation, which lasts several seconds, depending on the amount of chlorate ion present. If only a trace of chlorate ion is present the blue ring may not form, but upon shaking the test tube, a slight bluis

14、h coloration will appear momentarily throughout the solution, lasting only a fraction of a second. If a definite blue ring forms, the washing shall be repeated as before using one 1.0 ml. portion of Solution Number 1, and finally a 0.5 ml. portion of the same soiution, as needed, depending on the ou

15、tcome of the tests for the chlorate ion. (Usually a Wal of 14.0 or 14.6 ml. of Solu- tion Xumber 1 is sufficient.) After complete removal of potassium chlorate the inside of the crucible shall be washed with 1.0 ml. of Solution Number 2 and aspirated immedia- tely. The bottom of the crucible shalt h

16、e wiped dry with tissue paper and dried in an oven at 80 degrees C. plus or minus 1 degree C. for 30 minutes, cooled in a desiccator and weighed. 18、IL-P-60345 13 m 7774706 0337835 9 m MILP-40345 (MU) ml. of distilled water, in a one-half liter re- agent bottle, 125 m. of ferric ammonium sulfate shall be added. The bottle shall be stoppered and shaken vigorously for several minutes and then allowed to stand overnigh. Portions of the saturated so

19、lution shall be filtered before using. 4.3.2.2.2.2 Procediire. A portion of approx- imately 1 gm. of the sample shall be accur- ately weighed directly into a tared 30 ml. sin- tered glass crucible of medium porosity. Five ml. of one percent nitric acid shall be added and the crucible constantly swir

20、led for one minute in order to dissolve all the ingredients of the powder except antimony sulfide. Care shall be taken not to spill any liquid. The mixture shall be filtered by applying suction employing a vacuum flask, The crucible shall be removed from the adapter and the bottom wiped dry with tis

21、sue paper, The operations of washing, using 5.0 ml. of one percent nitric acid each time and swirling for exactly one minute shall be repeated. After a total of 40 ml, of one percent nitric acid has been used, the crucible shall be removed and the bottom of it washed with water. The funnel, the funn

22、el adapter and the vacuum flask shall be washed with water; the filtrate and washings shall be discarded. About 1 ml. of a saturated solution of ferric ammonium sul- fate shall be placed in the flask. The contents of the crucible shall be treated as before with 0.0 ml. of one percent nitric acid and

23、 filtered by means of suction into the flask. If the liquid in the flask turns red, due to the pre- sence of the thiocyanate ion in the filtrate, the washing of the contents in the crucible shall be repeated with additional 5.0 ml. por- tions of one percent nitric acid until a nega- tive test for th

24、e sulfocyanate ion is affected. (Usually a total of 50 ml. is sufficient.) The crucible and contents shall be rinsed with alcohol and then with ether, and then aspir- ated until the odor of ether is no longer de- tectable. The crucible and contents shall be dried in an oven at 80 degrees C. plus or

25、minus 1 degree C. for 30 minutes, cooled in . a desiccator and weighed. The percentage of antimony sulfide shall be calculated as fol- lows : Antimony sulfide, percent -1 100A B where : A .= weight of residue in the crucible. B = weight of sample on a moisture- free basis. 4.3.2.2.3 Lead azide. The

26、lead azide con- tent shall be determined using the (Eudio- meter) method and apparatus in MIGSTD- 650 Method No. 407.1. 4.3.2.2.4 Lend tltiocyairate. The percentage of lead thiocyanate in the sample shall be calculated on a moisture-free basis by sub- tracting from 100 the sum of the percentages of

27、potassium chlorate, antimony sulfide and lead azide. 4.3.3 Functioning. 4.3.3.1 Sewitivity. The primer shall be assembled to the applicable test fixture spec- ified in 4.2.4 so that he firing pin will strike the sensitive end of the primer. A steel ball “i,; inch in diameter and weighing 3.95 ounces

28、 maximum, shall be dropped of the firing pin to function the primer, from a height of 3 inches, maximum. The height of drop shall be measured as the height from the top of the fuing pin to the bottom of the ball. A primer that fails to fire or fails to create a hole in the alumimum disc of the re- q

29、uired size shall be classed defective. 4.3.3.2 Waterproof?iess. The primers shall be submerged in water maintained at a tem- perature of 70 degrees F. plus or minus 10 degrees at the required depth for the time specified and immediately upon removal from water subjected to the sensitivity test spec-

PR

31、EPARATION FOR DELIVERY. -5.1 Preservation and packaging. 5.1.1 Lcvel C. The primers shall be pre- served and packaged in accordance with dwg. 7548104. 5.1.2 Iutermediate packayi?zy. The primers shall be packaged in accordance with dwg. 7543103. .5.3 Packing. 52.1 Lesel C. The containers shall be pac

32、ked in accordance with dwg. 7548099. 5.3 Marking. 5.3.1 Unit, intermediate and exterior con- tainers shall be marked in accordance with dwgs. 7548104, 7548103, and 7548099. 5.4 Data cards. Data card information shall be prepared for each lot in accordaiice with the procedure specified in Specificati

33、on MTL- A-2550. 6. NOTES 6.1 Ordering data. Procurement documents shall specify title, number and date of this specification. 6.2 Inspection code numbers. The five digit code numbers assigned to the inspections herein are to facilitate future data collection and analysis by the Government. 6.3 Inspe

34、ction equipment. The contractor shal; design inspection equipment as required by the referenced Inspection Equipment Lists (IEL) in accordance with the instruc- tions of paragraphs 6.3.1 through 6.3.7. 6.3.1 Inspection equipment lists. Inspection equipment lists indicate the availability of inspecti

35、on equipment designs by showing in the number column of the list of inspection equipment (O0 Form 1242-3) the numbers of drawings of existing equipment designs or codes as indicated in paragraph 6.3.2. Design action required of the contractor with respect to the different types of drawings that may

36、be listed is described in paragraphs 6.3.3 and 6.3.4. Action required by the contractor with respect to commercial inspection equipment is described in 6.3.5. The contractor will be required to prepare detailed drawings in ac- cordance with 6.3.6 for all the equipment coded as “Contractor Design” in

37、 the number column. These contractor designs must be approved by the Government prior to fabri- cation or procuring of the equipment, De- signs shall be su3mitted for approval as spec- ified in 6.3.7. 6.3.2 I?ispsction eqziipment list codes. The inspection equipment as defined in 6.3.3, 6.3.4, 6.3.5

38、 and 6.3.6 will be designated in the IEL by the following CDAF - CDCF - AR - ADMU - CE - SCD - codes: Contractors design respon- sibility on Army format in accordance with MIL- D-45608. Contractors design respon- sibility on contractor for- mat. Army design. Army design, mandatory for use. Commercia

39、l equipment. Specification control draw- ing. 6.3.3 Army designs. Army designs are re- flected on detailed drawings which completdy depict all the information necessary for the fabrication of the item of inspection equip ment. The contractor need provide no design when an Army design is listed for a

When an inspection equipment list refe

41、rences mandatory Army designs, the contractor shall comply with, and use these designs accordingly, The contractor may, however, in connection with nonmandatory designs and with the approval of the Govern- ment, design alternate inspection equipment or use comparable commercial equipment to facilita

42、te his operations. Such contractor pre- pared designs or conimercial equipment se- lections must be approved by the Government prior to fabrication or procuring of the equip- ment. Designs shall be submitted for ap- proval as specified in 6.3.7. 6.3.4 Specification contyol drawing. Speci- fication c

43、ontrol drawings depict the minimum equipment requiremenh in outline, descrip- tive, diagramatic, or pictorial form only and specify the required performance or other characteristics. Contractors must prepare de- tailed drawings (see 6.3.6) of their designs in support of specification control drawing

44、s. These contractor prepared designs must be approved by the Government prior to th.e fabrication or procuring of the equipment. Commercial equipment meeting the require- ments of specification control drawings may be approved if described in sufficient detail to permit identification and evaluation

45、 by the Government. Designe shall be submitted for approval as specified in 6.3.7. 6.3.5 Contmerdal equipment. Commercial equipment is inspection equipment that has universal application for a specific fuiiction. It is comprised of items commonly used by industry and Government. Contractors are not

46、required to furnish drawings of commer- cial inspection equipment but a list of such equipment must be approved by the Govern- ment. Lists shall be submitted for approval to the inspection element of the agency ad- ministering the contract. 6.3.6 Contractor designs. Contractor de- signs are designs

47、of inspection equipment fc which the Government has assigned desig responsibility to the contractor, Contract( designs shall be supported by detailed drai ings which depict all infoimation necessai to completely fabricate, calibrate and opera an item of inspection equipment. This rc quires that the

48、necessary views, dimension materials, finish, notes, operating and cal bration instructions be properly depicted i accordance with approved practices to tk extent that further calculation or clarifict tion will not be required.
