9、. - Major Defect - Code No. 01002 (see Dwg. 3238882). For ductile iron, a test lug shall be cast representing the last metal poured from each ladle treated with the nodularizing agent. The test casting and microexamination shall be in accordance with ASTV-A-445. Failure of the test lue; to conform t

15、sample shall be subjected to a hardness test with a rinell Hardness Tester. The sample, a 10% minimum, representative of extreme furnace environment, shall be selected from each heat treat batch of 1000 or fraction thereof when a batch type furnace is used for the final heat treat- ment. When a cont
16、inuous type furnace is used for final heat treat- ment, from which a 10% min. sample will also be selected, a heat treat batch will be considered a quantity of castings not to exceed 4 hours production. The castings which constitute the sample shall be collected at regular continuous intervals throu
17、ghout the 4 hour cycle. The heat treat batch thus constituted shall form the basis for selecting sample castings for the tension test here-in-after pre- scribed. The hardness test shall be performed on the approximate center of the bottoni of the castings. as specified in 4.4.1 using equipment in ac
18、cordance with 4.3.4, The test shall be performed 4.3.3.3 Tension Test 4.3.3.3.1 Tension Test on Nose (Ductile Iron) - Major Defect - Code No. 01004. - The hardest and softest casting representing the days heat treat production as determined in 4.3.3.2.1 shall be subjected to the test specified in 4.
19、4.3 using ecpipment in accord- ance with 4.3.4. Failure of any test specimen to comply with the applicable physical properties requirements shall be cause for rejection of the days heat treat production represented by the specimens. When malleable iron is used two base castings from each heat treat
20、batch; one of the hardest and one of the softest as determined by 4.3.3.2.2 shall be subjected to the tension test in accordance with 4.4.4, to determine compliance with the mechanical properties re- quirements of the applicable drawing. When steel bases are used, two bases from each heat treatment
21、or stress relieved batch of 5000 or fraction thereof shall be subjected to the tension test. Failure of any specimen to comply shall be cause for rejection of the batch represented by the specimen. The test shall be performed as speci- fied in 4.4.4 using; equipment in accordance with 4.3.4. 4.3.3.4
22、 Hydrostatic Test. - Critical defect - Code No. 03031 - Each metal parts assembly shall be subjected to the required constant internal hydrostatic pressure to determine compliance with re- quirements s?ecifieO on dwg. 9238883. 25、tamped on the body, shall, after completion of the drying cycle be subjected to a submerged air pressure test. Any shell assembly failing to comply with requirements specified on Dwg. 9238883 as evidenced by air bubbles rising to surface of water shall be rejected. Air bubbles caused by entrapped ai
26、r on the outside of the shell shall not be cause for rejection of the shell assembly. Shell assemblies which comply with the requirements of Dwg. 9238883 shall be stamped with the letter “A“ as indicated on the assembly drawing. The test shall be performed as specified in 4.4.6 using equipment in ac
27、cordance with 4.3.4. 4.3.3.6 Salt Spray Test - Major defect (see 3.5) Code No. 04012. - The sample size for this test shall be as follows: During production, one warhead from each days production, shall be subjected to the salt spray test as specified in 4.4.8, until five consecutive days production
28、 have successfully passed the test. Sampling shall then be reduced to one sample twice per week, upon reduced sampling if one failure occurs, corrective action shall be taken and sampling shall revert to one specimen from each days production until five consecutive days production have again success
29、fully passed the test. If two consecutive failures occur after the contractor has been notified to take corrective action in either the original sampling plan or the reduced sampling plan, inspection for acceptance shall be stopped until necessary corrective action has been taken. Any specimen (warh
30、ead) which does not comply with any of the following test criteria shall be considered a failure. The specimen, when subjected to the salt spray test as specified in 4.4.8, shall show no more than i/8 inch creepage, blistering, or loss of adhesion of the paint as measured from the scribe mark. At al
31、l other points there shall be no more than a trace of film failure such as blistering, or corrosion, and not more than twenty scattered blisters, none larger than 3/16 inch in diameter on the painted sur- face of the warhead. This is intended that the maximum amount of corrosion in the salt spray te
32、st be comparable to photograph 8-1 in ASTM Standard Method of Evaluation Degree of Resistance to Rust- ing obtained with paint or iron and steel surfaces, D610-43. This test shall be performed as specified in 4.4.8 using equipment in accordance with 4.3.4. 4.3.3.7 Drop Test - Major Defect - Code No.
33、 04013 - Beginning with the first lot and continuing until five consecutive lots have been tested a sample from each lot shall be.subjected to a drop test as specified in 4,4.7 using equipment in accordance with 4.3.4. Upon satisfactory results from five consecutive lots the contractor may reduce te
34、sting to a sample from one randomly selected lot per month. The contractor shall return to the five lot requirement upon failure of any lot. The sample shall consist of 23 randomly selected painted assemblies which have passed all other requirements of this specification. The lot represented by the

If one or more warheads fail to comply with the inspection criteria, the lot shall be rejected. Inspection Criteria - The wa
37、rheads shall be subjected to and comply with a Hydrostatic and Air test in accord- ance with 4.3.3.4 and 4.3.3.5. There shall be no visual evidence of cracklike discontinuities on the surface of the warheads after the Hydrostatic and Air tests. This is considered to be a destructive test. 4.3.4 Insp
38、ection Equipment, - Equipment Tabulation Number ET-9238883 identifies the inspection equipment required to perform the examinations and tests prescribed in this section. The contractor shall desipn inspection equipment in accordance with the instructions in paragraph 6.3. equipment drawings and list
39、s provided and revised in accordance with the requirements of the ET may be used by DOD activities for design, procurement, manufacture, testing, evaluation, pro- duction and receiving inspection, overhaul, shipping, storage, identification of stock, ordering and storage of replacement parts, inspec
40、tion of items at overhaul, general maintenance of equipment, construction, survey and whenever inspection equipment drawings are needed. 4.3.4.1 Government rights to documentation. - Inspection 4.3.4.2. Supply and Maintenance. - Supply and maintenance of the equipment listed on the ET shall be in ac
41、cordance with Specification MIL-1-45607. 4.4 Test Methods and Procedures 4.4.1 Hardness Test on Base. - After final heat treatment, the hardness test shall be performed on the base. Procedures for this test are as prescribed by Federal Test Method Standard No. 151 Method 242.1. 4.4.2 Hardness Test o

46、c Test - (see 4,3.3.4). - The metal parts assembly shall be hydrostatically tested using equipment capable of performing the test accurately and consistently. In perfor- ming the test, the pressure will be applied gradually until the required minimum pressure is reached, after which the pressure wil
47、l be held for a minimum of 5 seconds. The equipment shall be calibrated prior to the start of each days operation, at intervals of not over 2 hours of continuous operation, and prior to re- starting the operation after a layoff of 1 hour or more. that have passed the hydrostatic test shall be mounte

The steel plate shall have a smooth flat surface and shall have a length and width of at least 36 inches. The plate shall be surrounded on all four sides by a heavy steel enclosure of su
