10、C11 - Low air pressure 21 3 Preparation of specimens 3.1 Specimens shall be fitted with their normal accessories in accordance with the requirements of the technical specification. The test shalt be conducted on elements of connection with protective covers. Unwired cavities shall be fitted with fil
11、ler plugs. A conductor shall be connected to the shell to allow measurements to be made. For elements of connection where the cable termination area is unprotected (e.g. with solder contacts) a means of protection shall be used. At the beginning of the test, the specimen shall not have been contamin
12、ated by any other product before immersion. 3.2 Unless indicated in the technical specification, the following details shall be specified : - mated or unmated elements of connection with protective covers, - type of wire, - insulation resistance, - value of voltage for test EN 2591-B7, - pressure va

14、r The low air pressure chamber shall be of sufficient size to house the container containing the specimen immersed in the salt solution. Its volume shall not exceed 1 cubic metre. The chamber shall also be provided with a window for visual observation of the specimen. Unless otherwise specified by t
15、he detail specification, a vacuum pump shall allow operators to maintain a 2 kPa pressure. 4.2 Salt solution The salt solution shall be prepared by dissolving 5 % by weight of sodium chloride in deionized water. 5 Method 5.1 Initial measurements (if applicable) Low air pressure (test EN 259 1 -CI 1
16、) 5.2 Test procedure 5.2.1 Immersion The test specimen sllall be immerseL in Ilte solution so that its uppermost point is 25 mm maximum below the upper surface of the solution. The wires shall be brought out along the specimen axis and shall not be submitted to any mechanical stresses. The wires sha
17、ll be so arranged as to be brought out of the solution and the unsealed wire ends shall be located inside the chamber. 5.2.2 Low air pressure cycle 5.2.2.1 The low air pressure chamber shall be sealed The chamber pressure shall be reduced from room ambient to 2 kPa or as otherwise specified by the t
18、echnical sipification within 5 min to 15 min and the above pressure shall be maintained for (30 o) min. 5.2,2.2 The chamber pressure shall then be inccysed to room ambient within 1 min and shall be maintained at room pressure for (30 o) min. The specimen shall remain in the salt solution during measurements. 5.3 Final measurements (if ap
20、plicable) 5.3.1 Measurements of insulation resistance After the third cycle, and while the specimen is still immersed, the insulation resistance shall be measured (test EN 259 1 -B6) 5.3.2 Voltage proof test After the insulation resistance test, and while the specimen is still immersed, a voltage pr
21、oof test shall be performed (test EN 2591-B7). The test voltage shall be applied for a minimum of 5 s. 5.3.3 Visual examination Immediately after the above test, remove the specimen from the and unmate it carefully. The specimen shall be visually examined with particular attention to the following : - evidence of salt water ingress visible to the naked eye, - condition of seals. 5.4 The specimen shall be carefully rinsed and dried after this test. chamber, drain it c
