、micals throughout the supply chain. This information is key for compliance with numerous regulatory requirements as well as to meet customer and other stakeholders expectations and obligations. The aerospace and defence sectors manufacture long life cycle products. They consider it essential to know

、 whether any of the substances inscripted in the Declarable Substances List are incorporated within the products they manufacture or in the manufacturing processes in order: to anticipate, at the earliest design stage, any potential regulatory or business risks that might occur, associated to these

、substances, to ease compliance with appropriate applicable regulatory frameworks, to facilitate end of life management, to implement an efficient tracking process and anticipate any possible supply chain or business disruption. This is not necessarily a list of substances that should be removed from

、 the aerospace and defence industries. Despite the fact that some of the substances contained on this list are not currently used within the aerospace and defence industries, they may be used at some point in the future. This use will be of interest to customers or the sector to be tracked for appro

、priate management. Some of the substances within this list are either currently regulated or may be regulated when the assessments on the substances are completed. ASD-STAN, in partnership with the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) and Aerospace Industries Association (AIA

、) compiled the list of all the substances that are known as being officially classified as: Carcinogens, Mutagens or Reproductive Toxins CMRs category 1 and 2, according to Annex 1 of Directive 67/548/EEC (as amended) Carcinogens, class 1 and 2A, according to IARC (International Agency for Research

、on Cancer) Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic PBT, per the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic (known as the “OSPAR Convention“) - Chemicals for Priority Action (Marine Pollutants of the North-East Atlantic) (as amended through HSC(1) 2007) Substance

、s defined as Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic PBT or very Persistent, very bioaccumulative vPvB according to REACH regulation No. 1907/2006 Annex XIII; List obtained from ESIS (European chemical Substances Information System) Page 4 TR 9536:08-03 Substances called out in REACH Annex XVII “Other

、” chemicals of concern to the aviation sector (Ozone Depleting Substances ODS as defined by Montreal Protocol and Persistent Organic Pollutants POP as defined by the Stockholm Convention. Many of the substances called out in the reference regulations are actually families of substances, rather than

、discreet chemicals. The list included in this standard is directly derived from the above sources. However, to facilitate the identification of those substances which fall into these families being used in the suppply chain, the list has been further populated with the detailed EU index numbers of t

、he substances belonging to these referenced families. This detailed list appears in TR 9535 Substance Declaration Microsoft Excel form. This compilation represents a good faith effort by the industry to accurately and completely compile a substance list based on regulations or stakeholders concerns.T

、his list will be subject to change as new information becomes available, and we encourage users to refer to the latest version of this technical report. Page 5 TR 9536:08-03 0 Scope This technical report applies to the aerospace and defence industries and their supply chain. 1 Purpose This list of s

、ubstances was developed for use by members of the aerospace and defence industries in order to assist in making product and process decisions to support compliance with regulatory requirements, as well as to meet customers and other third party obligations. In addition, this list will assist aerospa

、ce industry member companies with managing business risks, such as supply chain disruption. 2 Applicable documents This Technical Report will consist of a list of substances which are of interest to the sector to know whether any of these substances are used within aerospace products or manufacturin

、g processes used to make these products. It is intended to be used in conjunction with TR 9535. ASD-STAN thanks the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) and Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) for their cooperation in the planning of this document. This technical report is

、ical Family Identifier Abbreviations used in Declarable Substances List CMRs: Carcinogens, Mutagens or Reproductive Toxins CAS Number: A CAS registry number is a unique numeric identifier that can contain up to 10 digits, divided by hyphens into three parts, to designate only one chemical substance.

、 The CAS number is assigned by the Chemical Abstract Service. EINECS: European Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances) is a registry number given to each chemical substance commercially available in the European Union between 1 January 1971 and 18 September 1981. The inventory was created by Dire

、ctive 67/548/EEC concerning the labelling of dangerous substances. ELINCS: European List of Notified Chemical Substances. HSC: Hazardous Substances Committee. Intended Release: A substance is intended to be released, if under normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions of use, the release is essenti

、al for the end use function of the article. In other words, without the release of the substances, the article would not work sufficiently or as intended by the supplier of the article. Additionally, if the release contributes to a quality or minor function of the article, which is not directly conn

、ected to the end use function (e.g. perfumed eraser), then it is an intended release. Normal wear during use is not an intended release. MSDS: Material Safety Data Sheet is a form containing data regarding the properties of a particular substance. An important component of product stewardship and wo

、rkplace safety, it is intended to provide workers and emergency personnel with procedures for handling or working with that substance in a safe manner, and includes information such as physical data (melting point, boiling point, flash point, etc.), toxicity, health effects, first aid, reactivity, s

、torage, disposal, protective equipment, and spill handling procedures. The exact format of an MSDS can vary from source to source from source to source and shall be provided in compliance with the applicable regulatory framework and in the language of the country where the item is delivered.
