8、ought to different potential levels. The diffusion of metal ions in inserts is one of the most dangerous occurrences. It is therefore indispensable to apply a direct current voltage of sufficient level throughout the test. In addition, limit layer effects on the surface of inserts may also give rise
9、 to severe functional incidents (such as generation of spurious voltages). Such effects can only be evidenced by a prolonged exposure to a saturated damp atmosphere with application of a direct current voltage (superficial leakage). 1 Scope and field of application This standard specifies a method o
10、f verifying the long-term stability of an element of connection design when exposed to ionisation phenomena. 11、ements of electrical and optical connection - Test methods - Part B6 - Measurement of insulation resistance 1) 3 Preparation of specimens 3.1 The specimens shall be fitted with their standard accessories, mounted and wired as specified by the technical specification. If, exceptionally, the rear face
12、 of the specimens shall be protected, (e.g. rear face of an hermetic connector) the protective device shall meet the requirements of the technical specification. The test shall be performed on mated or unmated elements of connection with protective cover. 1) In preparation at the date of publication

Elements of connection shall be wired so as to meet the requirem
14、ents of the measurement method defined by the technical specification for test EN 2591 -B6. 3.2 Unless indicated in the technical specification, the following details shall be specified : - type of wire, - initial measurements and requirements, - number of cyles, - insulation resistance, - minimum t
15、emperature. 4 Method 4.1 Climatic preconditioning The specimens shall be preconditioned in an oven whose temperature shall be raised to 70 OC within 2 h and this temperature. shall be maintained for 20 h to remove any trace of moisture. The oven temperature shall then be reduced to 40 OC within 2 h.
16、 4.2 Initial measurements (if applicable) They shall be performed as specified by the technical specification while the specimen is in the chamber and in the position defined by the technical specification. 4.3 Procedure Method A : single chamber (see figure 1) Method B : two chambers (see figure 2)
17、 4.3.1 Method A After preconditioning ambient conditions shall be restored (23 the second chamber shall be used for damp heat. Leakage shall not exceed 2 mA between the two groups of contacts. / I During the last hour and before the end of the last cycle, the insulatian resistance shall be measured (EN 2591-B6).
