7、ld of application This standard specifies a method of assessing the effects of the controlled salt-laden atmosphere on an element of connection. It shall be used together with EN 2591. 10、g to the technical specification. When required by the technical specification, specimens shall be mated and unmated the number of times specified prior to the test. 3.2 Unless indicated in the technical specification, the following details shall be specified : - method of preparation, mounting and
11、position of specimens, - duration of the exposure, - method and requirements for final measurements, - mated or unmated elements of connection. 1) In preparation at the date of publication of the present standard. 2) Published as AECMA pre-standard at the date of publication of the present standard.

13、ntly large volume is available, so that these conditions are not influenced by the presence of the specimens, - no direct spray impinges upon the specimens under test, - drops of liquid cannot drip on the specimens. 4.1 Salt mist composition The solution for producing the salt mist shall be prepared
14、 by dissolving (50 f 1) g of sodium chloride (NaCe) analytical reagent quality in distilled or demineralised water to make up (1 f 0,02) e of final solution at 20 OC. The pH shall lie between 6,5 and 7,2. 4.2 The solution shall have a temperature equal to that in the chamber. 4.3 The sprayed solutio
15、n shall not be re-used. 5 Method 5.1 Initial measurements (if applicable) They shall be made according to the technical specification. 5.2 Procedure 5.2.1 The temperature in the test chamber and of the solution shall be maintained at (35 I 21 oc. 5.2.2 The spraying of the solution shall continue dur
16、ing the whole test duration. The pH value shall be monitored at the beginning and at the end of the test. 5.2.3 The specimens shall be divided into lots, so that they may be tested in ali of the positions specified in the technical specification. The specimens shall not be in contact with each other
17、 or with any other metal part. 5.2.4 The conditioning time shall be prescribed in the technical specification as either 48 h, 96 h or 500 h as well as the test condition of elements of connection, mated -or unmated. 18、 specimens shall be washed in running and/or demineralised water and then dried. 5.4 Final measurements and requirements (if applicable) The specimens shall be submitted to the following tests : a) EN 259 1 -AI - Visual examination - With particular attention to : 1) cracking ; 2) flaking or peeling of the plating ; 3) pitting of exposed metal surfaces ; b) EN 2591-B5 - Housing (shell) electrical continuity ; c) EN 259 1 -D8 - Mating and unrnating forces.
