7、is standard specifies a method of checking the ability of the elements of connection to withstand the use of the standardized tooling for insertion and extraction of electrical contacts. 9、 Preparation of specimens 3.1 The specimens are fitted with all their contacts wired in accordance with the technical specification. 3.2 Unless indicated in the technical specification, the following details shall be specified : - type of cable, - tool or tools for insertion of contacts, - tool or t
10、ools for extraction of contacts, - forces to be applied on the tool for phases 1 and 2, - value of the contact retention force. 4 Method 4.1 Number of contacts to be tested per size of contact . For each phase five contact cavities shall be tested. The contact cavity which has been used for the test

12、.2 Procedure Phase 1 - Rotation of the extraction tool The specified extraction tool having been introduced into a cavity containing the contact, an axial load as defined by the technical specification shall be applied to it. This load being maintained, an alternating rotation shall be carried out a
13、s shown in figure 1 ; the tool shall then be extracted with the contact. The contact shall be reintroduced. This operation shall be carried out four times on each of five contacts. Phase 2 - Rotation of the insertion tool The contact shall first of all be withdrawn and then re-inserted into its cavi
14、ty using the insertion tool, on which an axial load as defined in the technical specification shall be applied. With this load maintained, an alternating rotation shall be carried out as indicated in the figure 1. The tool shall then be extracted and then the contact shall be withdrawn. This operation shall be carried out four times on each of the five contacts. Figure 1 If a tool is damaged during the test, it shall be replaced. 4.3 Final measurements (if applicable) - EN 2591-A1 - Visual examination. - EN 2591-D9 - Contact retention in insert.
