It was prepared by an American Societyof Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Committee onProtectio

49、n of Industrial Workers with the assistance ofrepresentativesofanumberofinterestsincludingmanu-facturers, insurance carriers, regulatory bodies, andtechnical societies.Subsequently, ASME requested the AmericanEngineering Standards Committee (AESC) to authorizethe organization of a Sectional Committee to undertakethis revision. They acted favorably on this request andin January 1922 assigned sponsorship for the projectjointly to the American Institute of Architects, theNational Bureau of Standards, and ASME, all three ofwhom had taken an active part in the preparation ofthe first edit
