15、d be created for fastener guidance on metricstructural fasteners used in North America. This Standard, ASME B18.2.6M, is the result of thateffort. It was decided that since there were not yet any ASTM material and testing standards fortwist-off bolts, their dimensions should not be included in this

16、initial edition of this Standard.This Standard does include the dimensions for metric structural bolts, metric heavy hex nuts,metric structural washers, and metric compressible-washer-type direct tension indicators.Suggestions for improvement of this Standard are welcome. These four metric structural productsinclude(a) metric heavy hex structural

28、imply that all productsdescribed herein are stock production sizes. Consumersshould consult with suppliers concerning lists of avail-able stock production sizes.1.2 DimensionsAll dimensions in this Standard are in millimeters,unless stated otherwise, and apply to unplated oruncoated product. When pl

29、ating or coating is specified,the finished product dimensions shall be as agreed uponbetween supplier and purchaser. The top of the head shall be ful

42、lform and chamfered or rounded with the diameter ofthe chamfer circle, or start of rounding being equal tothe maximum width across flats within a tolerance of15% of the maximum across flats dimension.2.1.2 Width Across Flats. The width across flats ofheads shall be the distance measured perpendicula

43、r tothe axis of product, overall between two opposite sidesof the head.2.1.3 Head Taper. The maximum width across flatsshall not be exceeded. No transverse section throughthe head between 25% and 75% of actual head height,as measured from the bearing surface, shall be less thanthe minimum width acro

44、ss flats.2.1.4 Head Height. The head height shall be thatoverall distance measured parallel to the axis of theproduct from the top of the head to the bearing surfaceand shall include the thickness of the washer face. The2raised grade and the manufacturers identification areexcluded from the head hei

45、ght.2.1.5 Position of Head. The runout of the flats ofthe head shall be no greater than 6% of the maximumwidth across flats. For referee purposes, the evaluationshall be made by indicating on the flats while holdingthe body one bolt diameter from under the head androtating the part.2.1.6 Bearing Sur

46、face. Bearing surface shall be flatand washer faced. However, a die seam across the bear-ing face shall be permissible. The diameter of the washerface shall be equal to the maximum width across theflats with a minus tolerance of 10%. The thickness ofthewasherfaceshallbenotlessthan0.04mmnorgreatertha

47、n 0.08 mm. The plane of the bearing surface shall beperpendicular to the axis of the body within the FIMlimits specified for total runout. The measurement ofFIM shall extend as close to the periphery of the bearingsurface as possible while the bolt is being held in acollet or other gripping device a

48、t a distance of one boltdiameter from the underside of the head. The angularitymeasurement shall be taken at a location to avoid inter-ference from a die seam.2.1.7 Body Diameter. The body diameter limits areshown in Table 1. Any swell or fin under the head orany die seam on the body shall not excee

49、d the basic boltdiameter by the following:ASME B18.2.6M-2012(a) 1.25 mm for M12 and M16(b) 1.5 mm for M20 through M30(c) 2.30 mm for M362.1.8 Bolt Length. The bolt length shall be the dis-tance measured parallel to the axis of the product fromthe bearing surface of the head to the extreme end ofthe bolt including point. Bolts are normally furnishedin 5 mm length increments through 100 mm and 10 mmincrements over 100 mm.2.1.9 Length Tolerance.
