13、ecification for Horizontal End Suction Centrifugal Pumps for Chemical Process.Though these pumps are sealless (i.e., they do not use a dynamic seal to prevent leakage aroundthe drive shaft), leakage can occur as a result of certain types of wear or misoperation. The usermust take appropriate supplem

14、ental safety precautions when operating these pumps.The first edition of this Standard was approved as an American National Standard on August7, 1997.In the intervening years, work continued on a revision of ASME B73.1M. As that work drewnear to completion, the sealless working group began to develo

15、p a revision of the 1997 editionof ASME B73.3M to reflect the changes being made in ASME B73.1M. This revision of the Standardis the result of that work. Specifically,W Some paragraphs were simplified and clarified.W The presentation of units was changed to reflect that the U.S. Customary units were

16、 the primaryunits of measurement.W The sections on flanges and flange loading were revised.W Sound and vibration requirements were revised.W Information concerning Operating Region and NPSH Margin was added.W Auxiliary connection symbols were added.W Additional pump sizes were added.W Table 3 was re

20、e unit including casing, drivesection, and piping supplied by the manufacturer shallbe self-venting or furnished with vent connections.4.14.6 Identification. The manufacturers part identi-fication number and material designation shall be cast,clearly die stamped, or etched on the casing, cover, impe

21、l-ler, and containment shell. The manufacturers shall pro-vide identification on the product lubricated bearings(tagging is acceptable) to assist in parts identificationprior to assembly.4.14.7 Installation. All equipment provided shall bedesigned for unsheltered outdoor installation and opera-tion

22、at specified ambient temperatures.4.14.8 Frame (MDP). The frame shall be designed toresist a torque at least as high as the decoupling torquestrength of the largest drive magnets available for thatframe.The frame, when it clamps the rear cover plate to thepump casing, shall be made of a suitable duc

23、tile materialsuch as cast ductile iron or cast carbon steel.4.14.9 Baseplate Rigidity (MDP). Baseplates shall bedesigned according to ANSI/HI 1.3, Section 1.3.5.Baseplates, for separately coupled pumps, which are tobefreestanding(footor springsupportedratherthanheldby anchor bolts and grouted) shall

24、 be so structurally rigidas to limit movement of the driver shaft relative to thepump drive shaft to 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) parallel offsetwhen the driver torque of nameplate horsepower isapplied.4.15 Monitoring Devices4.15.1 Description. Devices or instruments whichindicate or control the condition of

25、 the sealless pump topreclude misoperation or damage to the unit should beavailable when specified.4.15.2 Temperature Probe. Sensing of temperature ofthe recirculation fluid and/or the containment shellshould be available when specified.4.15.3 Bearing Wear Detector. A device to detect axialand radia

26、l wear for a minimum of one bearing should beavailable when specified.4.15.4 Vibration. Receptacles, such as amachined con-ical recess forhandheld vibration probes ortapped bossesfor permanently installed probes, should be availablewhen specified. The location on separately coupled mag-netic drive p

27、umps shall be by the ball bearings on theframe in the horizontal position. For canned motor16pumps, the location shall be on the stator band in the hori-zontal and vertical positions.4.15.5 Motor. A device that monitors the motorshould be available when specified. This device maydetect one or more o

28、f the following:(a) power;(b) phase imbalance;(c) rotation;(d) under current;(e) over current;(f) single phasing; and(g) short circuit or internal malfunction.4.15.6 Circulation Fluid. A device to monitor the flowrateofthecirculationfluidshouldbeavailablewhenspec-ified. This requirement will only ap

29、ply to pumps withexternal circulation and does not apply to internal circu-lated pumps.4.15.7 Direction of Rotation Indicator (CMP). A direc-tion of rotation indicator should be available when spec-ified.4.15.8 Leak Detection. A device to detect leakage fromthe primary containment shell or liner sho

30、uld be availablewhen specified.5 GENERAL INFORMATION5.1 ApplicationApplication of sealless pumps requires more consider-ation than that for conventional centrifugal pumps. It isrecommended that anyone applying this type of equip-ment read para. 5.3 of ANSI/HI 5.1 through 5.6.5.1.1 Terminology. Pump

31、application and applicationterminology shall be in accordance with ANSI/HI 5.1through 5.6.5.1.2 Flange Loading. Allowable flange loadingimposed by the piping shall be in accordance with ANSI/HI 9.6.2.5.1.3 Sound. The maximum sound pressure level pro-duced by the pump and driver shall comply with the

32、 limitspecified by the customer. Tests, if specified, shall be con-ducted in accordance with ANSI/HI 9.1/9.5, Section 9.4.For separately coupled magnetic drive pumps, driverand pump noise data must be determined separately.5.1.4 Vibration. The vibration level measured on thestator/rear bearing housi

33、ng (CMP) or the frame (MDP)at the manufacturers test facility at the rated speed 5%and rated flow 5% shall not exceed twice the limitsshown in Fig. 9.6.4.4 of ANSI/HI 9.6.4.5.1.5 Hydraulic Coverage. Tables 5 and 6 show theapproximate hydraulic coverage for 50 and 60 Hz.SPECIFICATION FOR SEALLESS HOR

Pumps shall be designed tooperate continuously between 110% of best efficiencyflow and the minimum flows shown in Table 7, unlessspecifically noted otherwise by the manufact

35、urer, andmeet the requirements of para. 5.1.4 (vibration) whenpumping water at ambient conditions.CAUTION: The values in Table 7 do not consider minimum ther-mal flow for a specific installation, therefore, the practical mini-mum operating flow may be higher than shown. Pumpage isheated as it goes t

36、hrough a pump and the minimum thermal flowis that where the temperature rises enough through the pump thatrecirculation of some of the flow reduces the available net positivesuction head below that required by the pump, resulting in cavita-tion. Refer to ANSI/HI 1.3 for detailed application informat

37、ion.5.1.6.2 NPSH Margin. An operating NPSH margin(NPSHANPSHR) is necessary to ensure satisfactoryoperation. A margin of 3 ft (0.9 m) or a margin ratio of(NPSHA/NPSHR) 1.2, whichever yields the greater dif-ference, is often adequate. Refer to ANSI/HI 9.6.1 foradditional application information.5.2 Te

38、sts5.2.1 Hydrostatic5.2.1.1 Standard Hydrostatic. After machining, allpressure-containing parts shall be hydrostatically testedfor 10 min. minimum with water at 1.5 times the maxi-mum design pressure corresponding to 100F (38C) forthe material of construction used.NOTE: The pressure rating of jacket

39、s may not be the same asrequired for pumpage-containing parts.When secondary control or secondary containment isspecified, the following hydrostatic testing must also beperformed. The secondary containment components, orin the case of secondary control, the secondary pressurecasing, shall be hydrost

40、atically tested in accordance withpara. 1.6.4 of ANSI/HI 1.6 or pneumatic tested in accor-dance with ND-6112 of the ASME Boiler and PressureVessel Code, Section III, Division 1, Subsection ND.5.2.1.2 Assembled Pump Hydrostatic Test. Whenspecified, the assembled pump test shall be in accordancewith p

41、ara. 1.6.4 of ANSI/HI 1.6.5.2.2 Hermetic Integrity Test. When specified, a her-metic integrity test shall be performed on the pump unitafter final assembly. Prior to testing, all liquid shall beremoved from all internal cavities.CAUTION: Wetted material moisture retention characteristicsshould be re

42、viewed against the application prior to testing. Nodisassembly is permitted after this test. This test shall be per-formed in accordance with para. 5.6.3 of ANSI/HI 5.1 through 5.6.5.2.3 Performance Test. When performance tests arerequired, they shall be conducted in accordance withANSI/HI 1.6, leve

A complete written record of the17relevant test information including performance curves,the date of the tests, and the signature of the person(s)responsible for conducting the tests shall be delivered aspart of the pump documentation.5.2.3.1 Mechanical Integrity Test. When specified, amechanic

44、al integrity test shall be performed on the pumpto demonstrate that it will operate mechanically asdesigned. This test is intended to detect mechanical inter-ferences, ball bearing defects, and bushing bearing(s)defects. This test shall be performed in accordance withpara. 5.6.4 of ANSI/HI 5.1 throu

45、gh 5.6. This test isincluded in the optional performance test.5.2.3.2 Net Positive Suction Head Required (NPSHR)Test. When specified, an NPSHR test shall be performedin accordance with para. 1.6.6 of ANSI/HI 1.6. When thistest is specified, the performance test must also be spec-ified.5.2.3.3 Windin

46、g Integrity Test for Canned MotorPumps. The motor test shall be conducted in accordancewith para. 5.6.5 of ANSI/HI 5.1 through 5.6.5.2.4 Performance Curves. Published performancecurves shall be based on tests conducted in accordancewith para. 1.6.5 of ANSI/HI 1.6.5.3 NameplatesThe nameplate(s) is to

47、 be of 24 US Standard Gauge(minimum) AISI 300 series stainless steel and shall besecurely attached to the pump. It shall include pumpmodel, ANSI standard dimension designation, serialnumber, size, impeller diameter installed, material ofconstruction, maximum design pressure for 100F (38C),maximum al
