Scope1.1 This specification2covers

However, current practice normall

8、Plates for SpecialApplications33. General Requirements and Ordering Information3.1 Material supplied to this material specification shallconform to Specification A 20/A 20M. These requirementsoutline the testing and retesting methods and procedures,permissible variations in dimensions and mass, qual

9、ity andrepair of imperfections, marking, loading, etc.3.2 Specification A 20/A 20M also establishes the rules forthe basis of purchase that should be complied with whenpurchasing material to this specification.3.3 In addition to the basic requirements of this specifica-tion, certain supplementary re

10、quirements are available whenadditional control, testing, or examination is required to meetend use requirements. These include:3.3.1 Vacuum treatment,3.3.2 Additional or special tension testing,3.3.3 Impact testing, and3.3.4 Nondestructive examination.3.4 The purchaser is referred to the listed sup

11、plementaryrequirements in this specification and to the detailed require-ments in Specification A 20/A 20M.3.5 If the requirements of this specification are in conflictwith the requirements of Specification A 20/A 20M, the re-quirements of this specification shall prevail.4. Materials and Manufactur

12、e4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed andshall conform to the fine grain size requirement of Specifica-tion A 20/A 20M.5. Heat Treatment5.1 All plates shall be thermally treated as follows:1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee A01 on Steel,Stainless Steel and R

15、e normal-ized except as permitted by 5.1.1.1.5.1.1.1 If approved by the purchaser for GradesA, B, D, andE, cooling rates faster than air cooling are permissible forimprovement of the toughness, provided the plates are subse-quently tempered at not less than 1100F 595C for not lessthan12 h.5.1.2 All

16、plates of Grade F shall be heat treated by heatinginto the austenitic range, quenching in water, and tempering atnot less than 1100F 595C for not less than12 h.6. Chemical Composition Chemical Composition6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsshown in Table 1 unless otherwise modifi

17、ed in accordance withSupplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-DeoxidizedSteel, in Specification A 20/A 20M.7. Mechanical Properties7.1 Tension Test RequirementsThe material as representedby the tension test specimens shall conform to the requirementsshown in Table 2.7.1.1 For plates that have be

18、en heat treated in accordancewith 5.1.1.1 or 5.1.2 and have a nominal thickness of34 in. 20mm and under, the 112-in. (40-mm) wide rectangular speci-men may be used for the tension test, and the elongation maybe determined in a 2-in. 50-mm gage length that includes thefracture and that shows the grea

19、test elongation. When thisspecimen is used, the elongation shall be not less than 23 %.7.2 Impact Test Requirements:7.2.1 Plates of Grades A, B, D, and E that have been heattreated in accordance with 5.1.1.1 shall be Charpy V-notchimpact tested. The impact test shall meet 20 ft lbf 27 J. Thetest tem
