Scope*1.1 This specification2covers carbon steel castings forvalves, flanges, fittings, or other pressure-containing parts forhigh-temperature service and of quality

4、suitable for assemblywith other castings or wrought-steel parts by fusion welding.1.2 Three grades, WCA, WCB, and WCC, are covered inthis specification. Selection will depend upon design andservice conditions, mechanical properties, and the high tem-perature characteristics.1.3 The values stated in

5、either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system mustbe used independently of the other. Combining values from thetwo systems may result

General Conditions for Delivery3.1 Except for investment castings, castings furnished tothis specification shall conform to the requirements of Speci-fication A 703/A 703M, including any supplementary require-ments that are indicated in the pu

9、rchase order. Failure tocomply with the general requirements of Specification A 703/A 703M constitutes nonconformance with this specification. Incase of conflict between the requirements of this specificationand Specification A 703/A 703M, this specification shall pre-vail.3.2 Steel investment casti

10、ngs furnished to this specificationshall conform to the requirements of Specification A 985/A 985M, including any supplementary requirements that areindicated in the purchase order. Failure to comply with thegeneral requirements of Specification A 985/A 985M consti-tutes nonconformance with this spe

11、cification. In case of con-flict between the requirements of this specification and Speci-fication A 985/A 985M, Specification A 985/A 985M shallprevail.4. Ordering Information4.1 The inquiry and order should include or indicate thefollowing:4.1.1 A description of the casting by pattern number ordra

12、wing (dimensional tolerances shall be included on thecasting drawing),4.1.2 Grade of steel,4.1.3 Options in the specification,4.1.4 Whether the castings are to be produced using theinvestment casting process, and4.1.5 The supplementary requirements desired including thestandards of acceptance.5. Hea

13、t Treatment5.1 All castings shall receive a heat treatment proper to theirdesign and chemical composition.5.2 Castings shall be furnished in the annealed, or normal-ized, or normalized and tempered condition unless Supplemen-tary Requirement S15 is specified.1This specification is under the jurisdic

Temperature Control6.1 Furnace temperatures for heat treating shall be effec-tively controlled by pyrometer.7.

18、 Chemical Composition7.1 The steel shall be in accordance with the requirementsas to chemical composition prescribed in Table 1.8. Tensile Requirements8.1 Steel used for the castings shall be in accordance withthe requirements as to tensile properties prescribed in Table 2.9. Quality9.1 The surface

19、of the casting shall be examined visuallyand shall be free of adhering sand, scale, cracks, and hot tears.Other surface discontinuities shall meet the visual acceptancestandards specified in the order. Visual Method SP-55 or othervisual standards may be used to define acceptable surfacediscontinuiti

20、es and finish. Unacceptable visual surface discon-tinuities shall be removed and their removal verified by visualexamination of the resultant cavities.9.2 When additional inspection is desired, SupplementaryRequirements S4, S5, and S10 may be ordered.9.3 The castings shall not be peened, plugged, or

21、 impreg-nated to stop leaks.10. Repair by Welding10.1 Repairs shall be made using procedures and weldersqualified under Practice A 488/A 488M.10.2 Weld repairs shall be inspected to the same qualitystandards that are used to inspect the castings. When castingsare produced with Supplementary Requirem

22、ent S4 specified,weld repairs shall be inspected by magnetic particle examina-tion to the same standards that are used to inspect the castings.When castings are produced with Supplementary RequirementS5 specified, weld repairs on castings that have leaked onhydrostatic test, or on castings in which

23、the depth of any cavityprepared for repair welding exceeds 20 % of the wall thicknessor 1 in. 25 mm, whichever is smaller, or on castings in whichany cavity prepared for welding is greater than approximately10 in.265 cm2, shall be radiographed to the same standardsthat are used to inspect the castin

24、gs.10.3 Castings containing any repair weld that exceeds 20 %of the wall thickness or 1 in. 25 mm, whichever is smaller, orthat exceeds approximately 10 in.265 cm2 in area, or that wasmade to correct hydrostatic test defects, shall be stress relievedor heat treated after welding. This mandatory stre

25、ss relief orheat treatment shall be in accordance with the procedurequalification used.11. Those which are ordinarily considered suitable for use with thisspecification are given below. Others enumerate
