Scope*1.1 This specific

3、ation covers grades of seamless, welded,and heavily cold worked welded austenitic and ferritic/austenitic stainless steel sanitary tubing intended for use in thedairy and food industry and having special surface finishes.Pharmaceutical quality may be requested, as a supplementaryrequirement.1.2 This

General Requirements5.1 Material furnished under this speci

15、fication shall con-form to the applicable requirements of the current edition ofSpecification A 1016/A 1016M, unless otherwise providedherein.6. Manufacture6.1 The tubes shall be manufactured by one of the followingprocesses:6.1.1 Seamless (SML) tubes shall be made by a process thatdoes not involve

16、welding at any stage.6.1.2 Welded (WLD) tubes shall be made using an auto-mated welding process with no addition of filler metal duringthe welding process.6.1.3 Heavily cold worked (HCW) tubes shall be made byapplying cold working of not less than 35 % reduction ofthickness of both wall and weld to

17、a welded tube prior to thefinal anneal. No filler shall be used in making the weld. Priorto cold working, the weld shall be 100 % radiographicallyinspected in accordance with the requirements ofASME Boilerand Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII, Division 1, latestrevision, Paragraph UW 51.6.2 At the m

18、anufacturers option, tubing may be furnishedeither hot finished or cold finished.7. Heat Treatment7.1 All material shall be furnished in the heat-treatedcondition. The heat treatment procedure, except for S31803,S32003, S32205, S32750, N08926 and N08367, shall consistof heating the material to a min

19、imum temperature of 1900F(1040C) and quenching in water or rapid cooling by othermeans.7.2 N08926 shall be heat-treated to a minimum temperatureof 2010F 1100C followed by quenching in water or rapidlycooling by other means. UNS N08367 should be solutionannealed from 2025F 1107C minimum followed by r

20、apidquenching.7.3 S31803 and S32205 shall be heat-treated in a tempera-ture range of 1870F 1020C to 2010F 1100C followedby quenching in water or rapidly cooling by other means.7.4 S32750 shall be heat-treated in a temperature range of1880F 1025C to 2060F 1125C followed by quenchingin water or rapidl

21、y cooling by other means.7.5 S32003 shall be heat-treated in a temperature range of1850F (1010C) to 2010F (1100C).8. Chemical Composition8.1 An analysis of either one length of flat-rolled stock orone tube shall be made for each heat. The chemical composi-tion thus determined shall conform to the re

22、quirements given inTable 1.9. Product Analysis9.1 When requested by the purchaser, product analysistolerance in Specification A 480/A 480M shall apply. Theproduct analysis tolerance is not applicable to the carboncontent for material with a specified maximum carbon of0.04 % or less.9.2 If the origin

23、al test for product analysis fails, retests oftwo additional lengths of flat-rolled stock or tubes shall bemade. Both retests for the elements in question shall meet therequirements of the specification; otherwise all remainingmaterial in the heat or lot (Note 1) shall be rejected or, at theoption o

24、f the producer, each length of flat-rolled stock or tubemay be individually tested for acceptance. Lengths of flatrolled stock or tubes that do not meet the requirements of thespecification shall be rejected.10. Mechanical Tests Required10.1 Reverse Flattening TestFor welded tubes, one re-verse flat

25、tening test shall be made on a specimen from each1500 ft (457 m) of finished tubing.11. Hydrostatic or Nondestructive Electric Test11.1 Each tube shall be subjected to the nondestructiveelectric test or the hydrostatic test. The type of test to be usedshall be at the option of the manufacturer, unle

26、ss otherwisespecified in the purchase order.12. Permissible Variations in Dimensions12.1 The following variations in dimensions shall apply:12.1.1 For tubes with a specified wall thickness of 0.049 in.(1.24 mm) and greater, variations in outside diameter fromthose specified shall not exceed the amou

27、nt prescribed in Table2. For tubes with a specified wall thickness less than 0.049 in.(1.24 mm), the diameter tolerances shall be a matter foragreement by the manufacturer and the purchaser.12.1.2 When tubing 4 in. (101.6 mm) outside diameter isordered, additional ovality may be required for thin wa

28、lltubing. Thin wall tubing applies when the specified wall is lessthan 0.150 in. (3.81 mm). When thin wall tubing is ordered, themaximum and minimum outside diameter at any cross sectionshall deviate from the specified outside diameter by no morethan twice the permissible variation in outside diamet

29、er givenin Table 2; however, the mean diameter at that cross sectionmust still be within the given permissible variation.12.1.3 The wall thickness at any point shall not vary morethan 12.5 %, from the specified wall thickness.12.1.4 Variations in length shall meet the requirements inTable 2 except w

30、hen the Pharmaceutical Quality Tubing(Supplementary Requirement S2) is specified.13. Surface Finishes13.1 The following surface finishes may be specified:13.1.1 Mill FinishAfinish without additional polishing oroperations intended to smooth the surface.13.1.2 Mechanically Polished Surface FinishThe

37、sh No. 240A ground finish produced bypolishing a tube with an abrasive media impregnated with No.240 grit.13.1.2.5 Other mechanically polished finishes may beagreed upon between the purchaser and manufacturer.13.1.3 Electropolished FinishA bright reflective finishproduced by electropolishing. The ma

38、nufacturer may use otherpolishing operations prior to electropolishing.13.1.4 Maximum Roughness Average (Ra) Surface FinishThe customer may specify a maximum Ra on the insidesurface, outside surface, or both. The measurement of surfaceroughness shall be in accordance with ASME B46.1.13.1.4.1 When no

39、 agreement is made regarding Ra mea-surement of longitudinally polished tube, disputes shall beresolved using measurements made in accordance with ASMEB46.1.13.2 The manufacturer shall select a manufacturing methodto produce the specified finish. The operations may or may notinclude polishing.13.2.1

40、 The purchaser may specify the polishing type foreither the inside surface, outside surface or both for the finaldesired effect.13.2.1.1 Longitudinally Polished Finish It is usually per-formed on the inside surface only.13.2.1.2 Circumferential (Rotary) Polished FinishThiscan be performed on either

41、the inside surface, outside surface,or both.13.2.1.3 When the surface is finished by circumferentialmechanical polishing, the Ra measurement shall be measuredin the longitudinal direction. Roughness measurement of alongitudinal mechanical polished surface shall be a matter ofagreement between the ma

42、nufacturer and the purchaser.13.3 Acceptance criteria for minor surface imperfectionsshall be a matter for agreement by the manufacturer and thepurchaser.13.4 Combinations of the above finishes for internal andexternal surfaces may be specified. When tubes are polished onone surface only, the other

43、surface may be the regular millfinish.14. Product Marking14.1 In addition to the marking prescribed in SpecificationA 1016/A 1016M and specified in the order, the marking shallinclude whether the tubing is seamless (SML), welded (WLD),or heavily cold worked (HCW), and the surface finish.15. Packagin

44、g15.1 Unless otherwise specified in the order, all tubing shallbe protected for shipment by bundling, paper or burlapwrapping, or boxing at the discretion of the manufacturer.16. Intergranular Corrosion TestS1.1 When specified on the order, intergranular corrosiontests shall be performed by the manufacturer on specimensrepresentative of the as-shipped condition. Tubes shall becapable of passing corrosion tests in t

49、he as-shipped condition.Tests shall be performed in accordance with Practice E ofPractices A 262 for austenitic stainless alloys (intergranularcorrosion test) or Practice C of Test Methods A 923 for duplexalloys (S31803, S32205, or S32750, Intermetallic phase detec-tion).S2. Pharmaceutical Quality TubingS2.1 Chemistry:S2.1.1 When S31600 and S31603 are ordered, sulfur con-tent shall be restricted to the range of 0.005 to 0.017 %.S2.2 Tensile Require
