Scope*1.1 This speci
3、fication2covers four grades (A, B, C, and D)of carbon steel plates of structural quality for general applica-tion.1.2 When the steel is to be welded, a welding proceduresuitable for the grade of steel and intended use or service is tobe utilized. General Requirements for Delivery3.1 Plates furnished under this specification shall con-formto the requirements of the current edition of SpecificationA 6/A 6M, for the specific date ordered, unless a conflictexists, in which case this specification shall p
8、revail.3.2 Coils are excluded from qualification to this specifica-tion until they are processed into finished plates. Platesproduced from coil means plates that have been cut toindividual lengths from a coil. The processor directly controls,or is responsible for, the operations involved in the proc
9、essingof a coil into finished plates. Such operations include decoiling,leveling, cutting to length, testing, inspection, conditioning,heat treatment (if applicable), packaging, marking, loading forshipment, and certification.NOTE 1For plates produced from coil and furnished without heattreatment or
10、 with stress relieving only, two test results are to be reportedfor each qualifying coil.Additional requirements regarding plate producedfrom coil are described in Specification A 6/A 6M.4. Process4.1 The steel shall be made by one or more of the followingprocesses: open-hearth, basic-oxygen, or ele
11、ctric-furnace.5. Chemical Requirements5.1 The heat analysis shall conform to the requirementsprescribed in Table 1.5.2 The steel shall conform on product analysis to therequirements prescribed in Table 1, subject to the productanalysis tolerances in Specification A 6/A 6M.6. Tensile Requirements6.1
