1、Designation: A480/A480M 10Standard Specification forGeneral Requirements for Flat-Rolled Stainless and Heat-Resisting Steel Plate, Sheet, and Strip1This standard is issued under the fixed designation A480/A480M; the number immediately following the designation indicates the yearof original adoption

2、or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope

3、*1.1 This specification2covers a group of general require-ments that, unless otherwise specified in the purchase order orin an individual specification, shall apply to rolled steel plate, sheet, and strip, under each of the following specificationsissued by ASTM: Specifications A167, A176, A240/A240M

4、,A263, A264, A265, A666, A693, A793, and A895.1.2 In the case of conflict between a requirement of aproduct specification and a requirement of this specification, the product specification shall prevail. In the case of conflictbetween a requirement of the product specification or arequirement of this

5、 specification and a more stringent require-ment of the purchase order, the purchase order shall prevail. The purchase order requirements shall not take precedence ifthey, in any way, violate the requirements of the productspecification or this specification; for example, by waiving atest requirement

6、 or by making a test requirement less stringent.1.3 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, theSI units are shown in brackets, except that when A480M isspecified, Annex A3 shall apply for the dimensional tolerancesand not th

7、e bracketed SI values inAnnexA2. The values statedin each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem must be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in nonconformancewith the specification.1.4 This specification and the applicable material specif

8、ica-tions are expressed in both inch-pound and SI units. However, unless the order specifies the applicable “M” specificationdesignation SI units, the material shall be furnished ininch-pound units.2. Ordering Information4.1 It is the resp

21、onsibility of the purchaser to specify allrequirements that are necessary for material ordered under thisspecification. Such requirements may include, but are notlimited to, the following:4.1.1 Quantity (weight and number of pieces),4.1.2 Name of material (stainless steel),4.1.3 Condition (hot-rolle

22、d, cold-rolled, annealed, heat-treated),4.1.4 Finish (see Section 11 for Sheet, Section 12 for Strip, and Section 13 for Plates). In the case of polished finishes, specify whether one or both sides are to be polished,4.1.5 Temper (if the applicable material specification re-quires this detail),4.1.6 F

23、orm (plate, sheet, or strip),4.1.7 Dimensions (thickness, width, length),4.1.7.1 Thickness shall be ordered to decimal or fractionalthickness. The use of the gage number is discouraged as beingan archaic term of limited usefulness not having generalagreement on meaning. The gage number shall not be

It is neitherpractical nor necessary to specify limits for unspecified ele-ments, wheth

Theproducer is permitted to analyze for unspecified elements andis permitted to report such analyses. The presence of anunspecified element and the reporting of an analysis for thatelement shall

The purchaser is not permitted to make chemicalrequirements less stringent.6.2.5 Analysis limits shall be established for specificelements rather than groups of elements, including but notlimited to all others, rare earths, and balance, unless alle

For thisrequirement, a grade is defined as an alloy described individu-ally and identified by its own UNS designation in a table ofchemical requirements within this specification or any specifi-cation listed within the scope as being covered by the specifi

Product Analysis7.1 The purchaser is permitted to perform a product analysis(formerly check analysis) to verify the identity of the finishedmaterial representing each heat or lot. Such analysis shall

Material Test Report and Certification8.1 Areport of the results of all tests required by the productspecification shall be supplied to the purchaser. This materialtest report shall reference the product specification d

44、esignationand year date indicating that the material was manufactured, sampled, tested, and inspected in accordance with requirementsof the product specification and has been found to meet thoserequirements. The material test report shall report the meltingprocess when the purchase order requires eit

If certifyingthat the material conforms to the requirements for more thanone type of steel, the manufacturer may indicate each type ofsteel on the report, or ma

Not withstanding the absence of a signature, theorganization submitting the document is responsible for itscontent.8.3 Ama

The content of the EDI transmitteddocumen

Notwithstanding theabsence of a signature, the organization submitting the EDItransmission is responsible for the content of the report.8.4 When finished mat
