7、Applica-tions3. General Requirements and Ordering Information3.1 Plates furnished to this material specification shallconform to Specification A20/A20M. These requirements out-line the testing and retesting methods and procedures, permit-ted variations in dimensions, and mass, quality and repair ofd
8、efects, marking, loading, and ordering information.3.2 In addition to the basic requirements of thisspecification, certain supplementary requirements are availablewhen additional control, testing, or examination is required tomeet end use requirements.3.3 If the requirements of this specification ar
9、e in conflictwith the requirements of Specification A20/A20M, the require-ments of this specification shall prevail.4. Manufacture4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed andshall conform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement ofSpecification A20/A20M.5. Heat Treatment5.1 Except as a
10、llowed by section 5.2, the plates shall be heattreated by heating to not less than 1650F 900C, quenchingin water or oil and tempering at not less than 1150F 620C.5.2 Plates ordered without the heat treatment specified insection 5.1 shall be stress relieved by the manufacturer, andsubsequent heat tre
11、atment of the plates to conform to section5.1 shall be the responsibility of the purchaser.6. Chemical Requirements6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsshown in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accordance withSupplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-DeoxidizedSteel, in Spe

Mechanical Requirements7.1 Tension Tests:7.1.1 RequirementsThe plates as represented by thetension-test specimens shall conform to the requirements givenin Table 2.7.1.2 Test Methods:7.1.2.1 The yield strength may be de
22、termined by the 0.2 %offset method or by the total extension under load of 0.5 %method.7.1.2.2 For plates34 in. 20 mm and under in thickness, thetest specimen shall be the 112 in. 40 mm wide rectangular-testspecimen.7.1.2.3 For plates over34 in. 20 mm, either the fullthickness rectangular-test speci
23、men or the12 in. 12.5 mmround-test specimen may be used.7.1.2.4 When the 112 in. 40 mm wide rectangular-testspecimen is used, the elongation is measured in a 2 in. or 50mm gage length which includes the fracture.7.2 Impact Properties Requirements:7.2.1 Transverse Charpy V-notch impact test specimens
24、shall have a lateral expansion opposite the notch of not lessthan 0.015 in. 0.38 mm.7.2.2 The test temperature shall be agreed upon between themanufacturer and the purchaser, but shall not be higher than32F 0C.8.
