Scope1.1 This specification2covers manganese-molybdenum andmanganese-molybdenum-nickel alloy steel plates for use in thequenched and tempered condit

5、50 to 6902 90115 620 to 7953 100125 690 to 8601.3 The maximum thickness of Class 1 and Class 2 plates islimited only by the capacity of the composition to meet thespecified mechanical property requirements; however, currentpractice normally limits the maximum thickness to 12 in. 300mm.1.4 The maximu

6、m thickness of Class 3 plates is 212 in. 65mm.1.5 The minimum nominal thickness of plates of all classesis 0.25 in. 6.5 mm.1.6 These alloy steel plates in the as-rolled condition aresensitive to cracking during transit and handling, particularly inthicknesses over about 1 or 2 in. 25 or 50 mm. They

7、shouldbe shipped in the as-rolled conditions only with the mutualagreement of manufacturer and fabricator.1.7 Plates covered by this specification are often used in thebeltline region of nuclear reactor vessels where the materialproperties may be affected by high levels of radiation. Appen-dix X1 pr

8、ovides some information pertinent to this usage.1.8 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system mustbe used ind

15、plied with whenpurchasing material to this specification.3.3 In addition to the basic requirements of this specifica-tion, certain supplementary requirements are available whenadditional control, testing, or examination is required to meetend use requirements. These include:3.3.1 Vacuum treatment,3.

16、3.2 Additional or special tension testing,3.3.3 Impact testing, and3.3.4 Nondestructive examination.3.4 The purchaser is referred to the listed supplementaryrequirements in this specification and to the detailed require-ments in Specification A 20/A 20M.3.5 If the requirements of this specification

17、are in conflictwith the requirements of Specification A 20/A 20M, the re-quirements of this specification shall prevail.4. Manufacture4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed andshall conform to the fine austenitic grain requirement ofSpecification A 20/A 20M.5. Heat Treatment5.1 All plates

18、 shall be heat treated by heating to a suitabletemperature within the range from 1550 to 1800F 845 to980C, holding for a sufficient time to obtain uniform tem-perature throughout the plate thickness and then quenching, inwater. Subsequently the plates shall be tempered at a suitabletemperature to pr

19、oduce the specified properties, but not lessthan 1100F 595C with a minimum holding time of12 h/in.1.2 min/mm of thickness, but not less than12 h.5.2 When the plates are heat treated by the fabricator, itshall be his responsibility to apply the proper heat treatmentand to conduct tests he deems neces

20、sary to assure that thespecified properties are attained.6. Chemical Requirements Chemical Requirements6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsshown in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accordance withSupplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-DeoxidizedSteel, in Specification A

21、 20/A 20M.7. Mechanical Requirements7.1 Tension Test Requirements:7.1.1 The material as represented by the tension-test speci-mens shall conform to the requirements shown in Table 2.7.1.2 For nominal plate thicknesses of34 in. 20 mm andunder, the 112-in. 40 mm wide rectangular specimen may beused, a

30、CONSIDERATIONSRESIDUAL ELEMENTSX1.1 Reactor design requires review and control of residualelements that affect the material properties. Copper and phos-phorus are limited to levels determined by the total fluence tobe encountered during plant life. Vanadium and sulfur canaffect the upper energy shel

31、f level. In the case of sulfur, controlof this element or its morphology in the plate, or both, mayoffer alternative means of control. The limits required shall bespecified in the ordering data.
