Scope1.1 This specification2covers nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel plate
3、s for use in the quenched andtempered condition, intended for the fabrication of weldedpressure vessels and other pressure equipment. These alloycompositions are normally considered for construction involv-ing plate thicknesses of 2 in. 50 mm or greater.1.2 Material under this specification is avail
4、able in twotypes, B and C. The material is also available in three classesas follows:Class Minimum Tensile Strength, ksi MPa1 105 7252 115 7953 90 6201.3 The maximum thickness of plates is limited only by thecapacity of the chemical composition to meet the specifiedmechanical property requirements.1

They should be shipped in the as-rolled condition onlywith the mutual agreement of the manufacturer and thepurchaser or fabrica

General Requirements and Ordering Information3.1 Material supplied to this material specification shallconform to Specification
9、 A20/A20M. These requirements out-line the testing and retesting methods and procedures, permit-ted variations in dimensions, and mass, quality and repair ofdefects, marking, loading, and ordering information.3.2 In addition to the basic requirements of thisspecification, certain supplementary requi
10、rements are availablewhen additional control, testing, or examination is required tomeet end use requirements. The purchaser is referred to thelisted supplementary requirements in this specification and tothe detailed requirements in Specification A20/A20M.3.3 If the requirements of this specificati

The plates shall then be tempered to produce the requiredproperties by heating to a suitable temperatu
16、re not lower than1100F 595C with a holding time of not less than12 h/in.1.2 min/mm of thickness but not less than12 h.5.2 Plates over 4 in. 100 mm in thickness shall receive aprior treatment of normalizing at, or water quenching from atemperature within the range from 1650 to 1850F 900 to1010C befor
17、e the heat treatment specified in 5.1.5.3 When the fabricator elects to perform the heat treatmentin 5.1 and 5.2, the manufacturer shall normalize the plates at anappropriate temperature prior to shipment unless otherwiseagreed to.6. Chemical Requirements6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical r
18、equirementsshown in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accordance withSupplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-DeoxidizedSteel, in Specification A20/A20M.7. Mechanical Requirements7.1 Tension Test Requirements:7.1.1 The material as represented by the tension-test speci-mens shall conform to th
19、e requirements shown in Table 2.7.1.2 For nominal plate thicknesses of34 in. 20 mm andunder, the 112-in. 40-mm wide rectangular specimen may beused for the tension test and the elongation may be determinedin a 2-in. 50-mm gage length that includes the fracture andshows the greatest elongation.8.
