11、e4.1 ProcessThe steel shall be aluminum killed steel madeby one or more of the following processes: open-hearth,basic-oxygen, or electric-furnace.4.2 Steel may be cast in ingots or may be strand cast. Whensteels of different grades are sequentially strand cast, identifi-cation of the resultant trans
12、ition material is required. 16、alized afterthe final cold-draw pass.5. Chemical Composition5.1 Heat AnalysisAn analysis of each heat of steel shallbe made to determine the percentages of the elements speci-fied. The chemical composition thus determined shall conformto the requirements specified in Table 2 and the chemicalanalysis
17、 shall be in accordance with Test Methods, Practices,and Terminology A 751.5.2 Product AnalysisWhen requested on the purchaseorder, a product analysis shall be made by the supplier fromone pipe or coil of steel per heat. The chemical compositionthus determined shall be reported to the purchaser or t
18、hepurchasers representative and shall conform to the require-ments specified in Table 2.5.3 RetestsIf the original test for product analysis fails,retests of two additional lengths of flat-rolled stock or pipeshall be made. Both retests for the elements in question shallmeet the requirements of the
19、specification; otherwise, allremaining material in the heat shall be rejected or, at the optionof the producer, each length of flat-rolled stock or pipe may beindividually tested for acceptance. Lengths of flat-rolled stockor pipe which do not meet the requirements of the specificationshall be rejec
20、ted.5.4 Supplying an alloy grade of steel that specificallyrequires the addition of any element other than those listed inTable 2 is not permitted.6. Mechanical Requirements6.1 Tensile Properties:6.1.1 The material shall conform to the requirements as totensile properties prescribed in Table 3.6.1.2
21、 The yield strength shall be determined by the drop ofthe beam, by the halt in the gauge of the testing machine, by theuse of dividers, or by other approved methods. When a definiteyield point is not exhibited, the yield strength corresponding toa permanent offset of 0.2 % of the gauge length of the

(19 mm) from the center of the gauge length, as indicatedby scribe marks on the specimen before testing, a retest shall beallowed.6.2 Flattening Test:6.2.1 Asection of pipe not less than 4 in. (102 mm) in lengthshall be flattened cold between parallel plates in t
30、wo steps. Theweld shall be placed 90 from the direction of the appliedforce. During the first step, which is a test for ductility, nocracks or breaks, except as provided for in 6.2.5, shall occur onthe inside or outside surfaces until the distance between theplates is less than the value of H, calcu
31、lated by the followingequation:H 5 1 1 e!t/e 1 t/D (1)where:H = distance between flattening plates, in.,t = specified wall thickness of the pipe, in.,D = specified outside diameter of the pipe, in., ande = deformation per unit length (0.09 for low-carbon steel).6.2.2 During the second step, which is
32、 a test for soundness,the flattening shall be continued until the specimen breaks orthe opposite walls of the pipe meet. Evidence of laminated orunsound material, or of incomplete weld that is revealed duringthe entire flattening test shall be cause for rejection.6.2.3 Surface imperfections in the t
33、est specimens beforeflattening, but revealed during the first step of the flatteningtest, shall be judged in accordance with the finish requirements.6.2.4 Superficial ruptures resulting from surface imperfec-tions shall not be cause for rejection.6.2.5 When low D-to- t ratio tubulars are tested, bec
34、ause thestrain imposed due to geometry is unreasonably high on theinside surface at the 6 and 12 oclock locations, cracks at theselocations shall not be cause for rejection if the D-to-t ratio isless than 10.6.3 Reverse Flattening TestA section 4 in. (102 mm) inlength of pipe in sizes down to and in
35、cluding1316 in. (20.6 mm)in outside diameter shall be split longitudinally 90 on eachside of the weld and the sample opened and flattened with theweld at the point of maximum bend. There shall be no evidenceof cracks or lack of penetration or overlaps resulting from flashremoval in the weld.6.4 Flan
36、ge TestA section of pipe not less than 4 in. (102mm) in length shall be capable of having a flange turned overat a right angle to the body of the pipe without cracking orshowing flaws. This flange, as measured from the outside of thepipe, shall be not less than18 in. (3.2 mm) nor more than12 in.(12.
37、7 mm). Within these limits, the width of the flange shall benot less than the percentages specified in Table 4.7. Dimensions and Permissible Variations7.1 Permissible Variations in Outside Diameter and WallThicknessThe outside diameter and wall thickness variationsshall not exceed the limits prescri
38、bed in Table 1.7.2 Permissible Variations in StraightnessEach pipe shallbe straight within 0.030 in. (0.76 mm) maximum deflection inany 3 ft (0.91 m) length to 8 NPS. For 8 NPS and above, pipeshall be straight within 0.060 in. (1.52 mm) maximum deflec-tion in any 3 ft (0.91 m) length. Galvanized pip
39、e shall bereasonably straight.7.3 Lengths:7.3.1 Pipe may be ordered in definite cut lengths or inrandom lengths as provided herein.7.3.2 When ordered in definite cut lengths, the variation inlength shall not exceed the amounts prescribed in Table 5.7.3.3 If definite lengths are not required, pipe ma
40、y beordered in single random lengths of 16 to 22 ft (4.9 to 6.7 m)with 5 % 12 to 16 ft (3.7 to 4.9 m), or in double random lengthswith a minimum average of 35 ft (10.7 m) and a minimumlength of 22 ft (6.7 m) with 5 % 16 to 22 ft (4.9 to 6.7 m).8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 The finished p
41、ipe shall be free of injurious defects andshall have a workman-like finish. Minor defects may beremoved by grinding, provided the wall thickness is notreduced to less than the minimum thickness permitted for theordered nominal wall thickness.8.2 The pipe shall have smooth ends free of burrs and free
42、of scale except that the pipe may have a superficial “blue”oxide film on the surfaces.8.3 For NPS12 to 112 inclusive, the inside diameter weldingflash shall be removed so that the remaining flash does notexceed 0.006 in. (0.15 mm). For NPS over 112 , the remaininginside diameter welding flash shall
43、not exceed 0.010 in. (0.25mm).8.4 For all nominal sizes, the outside diameter welding flashshall be removed flush with the outside diameter contour.8.5 Undercut flash must be smoothly blended into the pipewall.8.6 The intent of the flash conditions as prescribed in 8.3,8.4, and 8.5 is to obtain a su

Retests10.1 If the results of the mechanical tes
48、ts of any heat or lotdo not conform to the requirements specified, retests may bemade on additional pipe of double the original number from thesame heat or lot, each of which shall conform to the require-ments specified.11. Retreatment11.1 If a heat or lot fails to conform to the test requirements,t
49、hat heat or lot may be reheat treated and resubmitted for tests.Not more than one reheat treatment shall be permitted.12. Test Specimens and Methods of Testing12.1 The test specimens and the tests required by thisspecification shall conform to those described in Test Methodsand Definitions A 370.12.2 Test specimens shall be taken from the ends of finishedpipe prior to upsetting, swaging, expanding, or other formingoperations, or being cut to length. They shall be smooth on theends and free from burrs and flaws.12.3 If an
