Scope1.1 This specification covers tool steel compositions forusable shapes cas

3、t by pouring directly into suitable molds andfor master heats for remelting and casting.NOTE 1A master heat is defined as any single heat of steel of certifiedanalysis which has been processed into suitable form (shot, ingot, etc.) forremelting. A uniform blend of master heats is also acceptable for

4、remelting. This blend is defined as a master heat lot and its averagechemical composition shall be certified.1.2 Nine grades, CA-2, CD-2, CD-5, CM-2, CS-5, CS-7,CH-12, CH-13, and CO-1, are covered in this specification.NOTE 2The committee formulating this specification has includedair- and oil-harde

5、ning grades of tool steel that have been extensively used.Other compositions will be considered for inclusion as the need arises.2. Ordering Information3.1 Purchase orders shall include the following informationto describe the desired material:3.1.1 ASTM specification number and date of issue,3.1.2 Name of material (cast tool steel),3.1.3 Grade (see Table 1),3.1.4 Form (shot, ingot, or

7、shaped castings), and3.1.5 Special requirements.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 The steel shall be made by one or more of the followingprocesses: Electric-arc furnace or induction furnace and maybe argon-oxygen decarburization (AOD) refined. The steel canbe remelted in air, vacuum, or inert atmosphe

Chemical Requirements Chemical Requirements5.1 Achemical analysis of each heat of steel (see Note 1) formaster heats and for usable cast shapes shall be made by themanufacturer in accordance with Test Methods A751. Sam-pling shall be in accordance with Method E59. The chemicalcomposition thus

9、determined shall not vary from the limitsspecified in Table 1.6. Inspection6.1 When specified in the purchase order, the inspectorrepresenting the purchaser shall have access to the materialsubject to inspection for the purpose of witnessing the selectionof samples and performance of the analytical

10、tests. For suchtests, the inspector shall have the right to indicate the piecesfrom which samples will be selected. Otherwise, the manufac-turer shall report to the purchaser, or his representative, theresults of the chemical analysis made in accordance with thisspecification.7. Rejection and Rehear

11、ing7.1 RejectionUnless otherwise specified, any rejectionbased on tests made in accordance with this specification shallbe reported to the manufacturer within 30 days from the date ofreceipt of the material.7.2 RehearingSamples tested in accordance with thisspecification that represent rejected mate

12、rial shall be preservedfor three weeks from the date of the test report. In case ofdissatisfaction with the results of the test, the manufacturermay make claim for a rehearing within that time.8. Packaging and Package Marking8.1 PackagingMaterial shall be packed in such a manneras to ensure safe del
