A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification2covers three grades of carbon-mang

、anese-silicon steel plates intended primarily for service inwelded pressure vessels where improved low temperaturenotch toughness is important.1.2 The maximum thickness of plates is limited only by thecapacity of the composition to meet the specified mechanicalproperty requirements; however, current

、 practice normallylimits the maximum thickness of plates furnished under thisspecification to 2 in. 50 mm.1.3 Grades A, B, and C comply substantially with therequirements of ISO Pressure Vessel Steels P9, P15, and P18,respectively.1.4 For plates produced from coil and furnished withoutheat treatment

、 or with stress relieving only, the additionalrequirements, including additional testing requirements and thereporting of additional test results, of Specification A 20/A 20M apply.1.5 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text,

、 theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system mustbe used independently of the other. Combining values from thetwo systems may result in nonconformance with the specifi-cation.2. Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:3A 20/A 20
