Scope1.1 This specification covers steel fence posts manufa

Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 line postsposts that support the straight-line body ofthe fence.4. Ordering

8、Information4.1 Orders for products under this standard should includethe following information:4.1.1 Quantity (number of pieces) of line posts (it iscustomary to order line posts in multiples of five of therequired length),4.1.2 Length or lengths required (see 6.2),4.1.3 Finish: galvanized or painte

10、 Materials and Manufacture5.1 Material:5.1.1 Line posts shall be fabricated from SteelAas specifiedin Table 1.5.1.2 The finished line post shall conform to the tensileproperties specified in Table 1.5.1.3 At the manufacturers option, a Brinell or Rockwell Bhardness test may be substituted for the te

11、nsile requirements inTable 1. In such cases the material shall conform to the Brinellor Rockwell B hardness specified in Table 2.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee A01 on Steel,Stainless Steel and Related Alloys and is the direct responsibility of SubcommitteeA01.15 on B

16、 section.The cross section of T posts shall be approximately 138 in. (35mm) wide, 138 in. deep, and18 in. (3.2 mm) thick. Unlessotherwise specified by the purchaser, the line post type is at themanufacturers option.5.2.2 Dimensions may vary slightly in individual design inmaintaining the control wei

17、ght per foot.5.3 Wire AttachmentsLine posts shall have corrugations,knobs, notches, holes, or studs so placed and formed as toengage a substantial number of fence line wires in properpositions.5.4 Anchor Plates:5.4.1 Each line post shall be manufactured with an anchorplate, unless otherwise specifie

The anchor plate shall bemade from carbon steel and shall be swaged or riveted to thepost in such a manner as to prevent displacement when theposts are driven.5.4.2 When specified, line posts may be furnished withoutanchor plates.5.5 Wire Fasteners:5.5.1 Unless otherwise specified by the purchase

19、r, each linepost shall be provided with not less than five suitable fastenersfor attaching fence wire to the posts.5.5.2 The fasteners shall be formed from zinc-coated C1010grade steel wire 0.120 in. (3.05 mm) diameter (minimumtensile strength of 65 (448) and zinc coated in accordance withSpecificat

20、ion A641/A641M. Class 1 coating unless otherwisespecified by purchaser.6. Dimensions, Mass and Permissible Variations6.1 Nominal Weights and Tolerances:6.1.1 Nominal WeightPrior to fabrication by punching,drilling, attaching anchors, or finish coating, the line postsections shall have a nominal weig

21、ht of 1.33 lb/ft of the length.6.1.2 The weight of line posts plus anchor plates (ifspecified), prior to fabrication, drilling, or finish coating shallnot vary from nominal weights specified in Table 3 by morethan 65 %. Weight shall be determined in lots of five lineposts. The weight of the line pos

22、t shall be determined byweighing five (5) together with anchor plate. The nominalweight of each post will be determined by the average of the 5post weighed as specified in Table 3.6.2 Standard Lengths and Tolerances:6.2.1 Line posts shall be furnished in standard lengths of 5to 10 ft (1525 to 3050 m

23、m) inclusive, as specified by thepurchaser. Standard length increments are shown in Table 3.6.2.2 The length of line posts shall not vary from thatspecified more than 1.0 in. (25 mm) or +2 in. (+50 mm).6.2.3 The placement of the anchor plate shall be nominally16 in. (400 mm) from the bottom of the p

24、ost to the uppermostportion of the anchor plate and shall not vary by more than 63in. (676 mm).6.2.4 Anchor plates shall be tapered to facilitate driving, andshall have minimum area of 18 in. (11 600 mm) and shallweigh 0.67 lb (0.3 kg) 65%.7. Finish and Appearance7.1 Line posts shall be furnished pa

25、inted or galvanized asspecified by the purchaser.7.2 Painted post shall be coated with one or more coats ofweather resistant enamel (air dry or baked).7.3 When specified, galvanized post shall be in accordancewith Specification A123/A123M.8. General Requirements8.1 Material furnished under this spec

26、ification shall con-form to the general requirements of the current edition ofSpecification A29/A29M unless otherwise provided herein.9. Sampling9.1 One item from each lot shall be selected at random fortesting. A lot shall consist of all posts of the same lengthoffered for delivery at the same time

27、.9.2 The post selected in accordance with 7.1 shall be testedfor tensile strength or hardness, and zinc coating, if applicable.9.3 Five post per lot shall be selected at random andinspected for length, and permissible section dimensions (vi-sual inspection for excessive bow, camber, twist or otherin

Rejection and Retests10.1 Should two (2

31、) or more post fail to meet any of the 9.3requirements, the lot size shall become 400. Five (5) more postshall be selected at random and inspected for compliance to therequirements of 9.3 causing the initial failure. If two (2) ormore post fail, the entire lot shall be rejected.11. Inspection11.1 Un

32、less otherwise specified in the purchase order orcontract, the manufacturer is responsible for the performanceof all inspection and test requirements specified in this speci-fication. The purchaser shall have the right to perform any ofthe inspection and tests set forth in this specification when su

33、chinspection and tests are deemed necessary to ensure that thematerial conforms to prescribed requirements.12. Rejection and Rehearing12.1 Material that fails to conform to the requirements ofthis specification may be rejected. Rejection should be reportedto the producer or supplier promptly and in

34、writing. In case ofdissatisfaction with the results of the test, the producer orsupplier may make claim for a rehearing.13. Certification13.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, aproducers or suppliers certification shall be furnished to thepurchaser that the material was manufactured

35、in accordancewith this specification and has been found to meet therequirements.14. Packaging14.1 Galvanized line post shall be loose stacked. Paintedline post in lengths 5 through 8 ft shall be bound in bundles of5 post, and by agreement with the purchaser, may be suppliedin master bundles containi

36、ng up to 250 post.14.2 Orders are customarily on piece count rather than onweight of posts. The nominal weights establish the basis forweight tolerance and transportation data (see Table 3 weights).15. Packaging, Marking, and Loading for Shipment15.1 Unless otherwise specified, packaging, marking, a

37、ndloading for shipment shall be in accordance with Guide A700.15.2 When specified in the contract or order, and for directprocurement by or direct shipment to the U.S. Government,when Level A is specified, preservation, packaging, and pack-ing shall be in accordance with Level A requirements ofMIL-S

38、TD-163.15.3 When specified in the contract or order, and for directprocurement by or direct shipment to the U.S. Government,marking for shipment, in addition to requirements specified inthe contract or order, shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129 for U.S. Military agencies and in accordance with F

39、ED-STD-123 for U.S. Government civil agencies.16.
