Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 The definitions in

Materials and Manufacture4.1 Melting
26、ProcessThe steel shall be made by open-hearth or electric-furnace process, with or without separaterefining such as argon-oxygen-decarburization (AOD), unlessotherwise designated by the individual specification.4.2 Heat Treatment:4.2.1 Ferritic and martensitic steel shall be cooled afterpouring to p
27、rovide substantially complete transformation ofaustenite prior to heat treatment to enhance mechanical prop-erties.4.2.2 Castings shall be heat treated in the working zone of afurnace that has been surveyed in accordance with Test MethodA 991/A 991M.4.2.2.1 When castings are heat treated at temperat
28、uresabove 2000F 1100C, then the working zone shall have beenestablished by a survey performed at not more than 25F15C below nor more than 200F 110C above the mini-mum heat treatment temperature specified for the grade. If aminimum heat treatment temperature is not specified for thegrade, then the su
29、rvey temperature shall be not more than 50F30C below nor more than 175F 100C above the furnaceset point used.4.2.2.2 The maximum variation in measured temperature asdetermined by the difference between the highest temperatureand the lowest temperature shall be as agreed between thepurchaser and prod
30、ucer except that during production heattreatment, no portion of the furnace shall be below theminimum specified temperature nor above the maximumspecified temperature for the grade being processed.5. Chemical Composition5.1 Chemical AnalysisChemical analysis of materialscovered by this specification
31、 shall be in accordance with TestMethods A 751.5.2 Heat AnalysisAn analysis of each heat shall be madeby the manufacturer to determine the percentages of theelements specified. The analysis shall be made from a testsample preferably taken during the pouring of the heat. Whendrillings are used, they
32、shall be taken not less than14 in. 6.4mm beneath the surface. 34、de bythe purchaser from material representing each heat, lot, orcasting. The analysis shall be made on representative material.Due to the possibility of decarburization, carbon and alloy steelsamples for carbon analysis shall be taken no closer than14 in.6.4 mm to a cast surface except that castings
35、 too thin for thisshall be analyzed on representative material. The chemicalcomposition thus determined shall meet the requirementsspecified in the applicable specification for the grade involved,or shall be subject to rejection by the purchaser, except that thechemical composition determined for ca
36、rbon and low-alloysteel castings may vary from the specified limits by theamounts shown in Table 1. The product analysis tolerances ofTable 1 are not applicable as acceptance criteria for heatanalysis by the casting manufacturer.5.4 Unspecified ElementsWhen chemical analysis for el-ements not specif
37、ied for the grade ordered is desired, Supple-mentary Requirement S1 may be specified.5.4.1 Grade substitution for stainless and nickel base alloycastings is not permitted. Grade substitution occurs when thematerial supplied: (1) contains an element, other the nitrogen,that is not specified in the or
38、dered grade, and (2) the amount ofthat element equals or exceeds the minimum requirement forthe element in another grade for which it is specified. For thisrequirement, a grade is defined as an alloy described individu-ally in a table of chemical requirements within any specifica-tion listed within
39、the scope of this section.5.5 The substitution of a grade or composition differentfrom that specified by the purchaser is prohibited.5.6 Where more than one ladle is poured into a singlecasting, the molten metal in each ladle must conform to thespecified chemical requirements.6. Mechanical Test Meth
40、ods6.1 All mechanical tests shall be conducted in accordancewith Test Methods and Definitions A 370.7. Tensile Requirements7.1 One tension test shall be made from each heat, and shallconform to the tensile requirements specified. Test couponsshall be cast from the same heat as the castings represent
41、ed,except that for investment castings, the test coupons shall becast in the same type of mold as the castings.67.2 The coupon from which the test specimen is taken shallbe heat treated in production furnaces to the same procedure asthe castings it represents.7.3 Test specimens may be cut from heat-
42、treated castings, atthe producers option, instead of from test coupons.7.4 Investment CastingsFor investment castings, the cou-pons may be cast to shape or machined from coupons todimensions in accordance with Test Methods and DefinitionsA 370 or the ICI coupon shown in Fig. 1.7.5 Other CastingsUnle
43、ss otherwise specified by thepurchaser, test coupons may be cast integrally with the castingsor as separately in accordance with Fig. 2 and Table 2, withFig. 3, or with Fig. 4, except when Supplementary Require-ment S26 is specified. The test coupon in Fig. 4 shall beemployed only for austenitic all
44、oy castings with cross sectionsless than 212 in. 63.5 mm. Tension test specimens shall beprepared in accordance with Test Methods and DefinitionsA 370.7.6 If any specimen shows defective machining or developsflaws, it may be discarded and another substituted from thesame heat.7.7 To determine confor
45、mance with the tension test require-ments, an observed value or calculated value shall be roundedoff in accordance with Practice E29to the nearest 500 psi 5MPa for yield and tensile strength and to the nearest 1 % forelongation and reduction of area.8. Repair by Welding8.1 Repair by welding shall be
