Terminology3.1 De

Ordering Information4.1 It shall be the responsibility of the purchaser to sp

General Requirements for Delivery5.1 Material furnished under this specification shall con-form to the applicable requirements of the latest edition ofSpecification A510 unless otherwise specified herein.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 The steel shall be made by the open-hearth, bas

11、ic-oxygen, or electric-furnace process.6.2 The wire, prior to fabrication, shall be thermally treatedor thermally treated and drawn.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee A01 on Steel,Stainless Steel and Related Alloys and is the direct responsibility of SubcommitteeA01.03 o

15、959, United States.6.3 The condition or wire (metallurgical and mechanicalproperties) to be used is at the discretion of the purchaser andis generally dependent on the severity of the component part tobe formed.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The steel shall conform to the requirements for chemicalcompos

16、ition prescribed in Table 2 for the grade ordered.7.2 Achemical composition other than those shown in Table2 may be supplied when agreed upon by the manufacturer andpurchaser.7.3 An analysis of each cast or heat shall be made by themanufacturer to determine the percentage of elements specifiedin Tab

17、le 2. The chemical composition thus determined shall bereported to the purchaser or his representative upon request.7.4 A product analysis may be made by the purchaser. Thechemical composition thus determined, as to elements requiredor restricted, shall conform to permissible variations forproduct a

18、nalysis as specified in Table 10 in SpecificationA510.For referee purposes, Test Methods E30 or Test Methods E350shall be used.8. Metallurgical Structure8.1 Austenitic grain size, when specified, shall be deter-mined in accordance with the requirements of Test MethodsE112 or some other mutually agre

19、eable method.9. Mechanical Properties9.1 Tensile strength is not normally a requirement. Mini-mum or maximum values for tensile strength may be agreedupon between the purchaser and manufacturer and are depen-dent on the chemical composition, thermal treatment, anddiameter of wire specified.9.2 Wrap

20、Test:9.2.1 RequirementsWire shall wind without fracture on acylindrical mandrel of a diameter specified in Table 3. Thewrap test is not applicable to wires over 0.312 in. (8 mm).Since the conventional methods will not accommodate wiresizes over 0.312 in., an alternative test procedure may beagreed u

21、pon between the purchaser and manufacturer.9.2.2 Number of TestsAt least one test specimen shall betaken for each ten coils or fraction thereof in a lot.9.2.3 Location of TestThe test specimen shall be takenfrom either end of the coil.9.2.4 Test MethodThe wrap test shall be made in accor-dance with

22、Supplement IV of Test Methods and DefinitionsA370.10. Dimensions and Tolerances10.1 The diameter of the wire shall not vary from thespecified size by more than the tolerance shown in Table 1.11. Workmanship11.1 The surface of the wire as received shall be substan-tially free of rust and such other s

23、urface imperfections of anature or degree, for the grade ordered, that will be detrimentalto the fabrication of the parts.11.2 Wire drawn as a final operation shall not be kinked orimproperly cast. To test for a cast, a single convolution, or ring,of wire shall be cut from the bundle and placed on a

24、 flatsurface. The wire shall lie substantially flat and not spring up.The wire shall not show a wavy condition.11.3 Each coil of wire shall be one continuous length.11.4 Wire may be processed with welds made prior to wiredrawing. Weld areas need not meet the mechanical require-ments of the specifica

25、tion. If unmarked welds are unacceptableto the purchaser, special arrangements should be made with themanufacturer at the time of purchase.12. Inspection12.1 The manufacturer shall afford the inspector represent-ing the purchaser all reasonable facilities to satisfy him that theTABLE 1 Permissible V

Rej

33、ection and Rehearing13.1 Unless otherwise specified, any rejection based on testsmade in accordance with this specification shall be reported tothe manufacturer within a reasonable length of time.13.2 Failure of any of the test specimens to comply with therequirements of this specification shall con

34、stitute grounds forrejection of the lot represented by the specimen. The lot may beresubmitted for inspection by testing every coil for the char-acteristic in which the specimen failed and sorting out thenonconforming coils.13.3 The material must be adequately protected and cor-rectly identified in

35、order that the manufacturer may make aproper investigation.14. Certification14.1 Upon request of the purchaser in the contract orpurchase order, a manufacturers certification that the materialwas manufactured and tested in accordance with this specifi-cation together with a report of the test result

36、s shall befurnished at the time of shipment.14.2 The certification shall include the specification num-ber, year date of issue, and revision letter, if any.15. Packaging, Marking, and Loading15.1 Packaging of the coils of wire shall be by agreementbetween the manufacturer and the purchaser. This agr

37、eementshall include coil dimensions and weights.15.2 When specified, the packaging, marking, and loadingshall be in accordance with Practices A700.15.3 Marking shall be by tag securely attached to each coilof wire and shall show the identity of the manufacturer, size ofthe wire, grade, ASTM specific

38、ation number, and cast or heatnumber.15.4 Bar CodingIn addition to the previously-stated iden-tification requirements, bar coding is acceptable as a supple-mentary identification method. Bar coding should be consistentwith AIAG Standard 02.00, Primary Metals Identification TagApplication. The bar co

39、de may be applied to a substantiallyaffixed tag.16.
