、Designation: A724/A724M 09 (Reapproved 2018)Standard Specification forPressure Vessel Plates, Carbon-Manganese-Silicon Steel,Quenched and Tempered, for Welded Pressure Vessels1This standard is issued under the fixed designation A724/A724M; the number immediately following the designation indicates t
、he yearof original adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification2covers three grades of carbon-
、manganese-silicon steel, designated Grades A, B, and C. GradeC may be produced with a boron addition. The plates arequenched and tempered and are intended for welded-layeredpressure vessels.1.2 The maximum thickness of plates supplied under thisspecification is limited only by the capability of the
、chemicalcomposition to meet the specified mechanical requirements. However, current practice normally limits the maximum thick-ness to78 in. 22 mm for GradesAand B, and to 2 in. 50 mmfor Grade C.1.3 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Wit
、hin the text, theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system mustbe used independently of the other. Combining values from thetwo systems may result in nonconformance with the specifi-cation.1.4 This international standard was dev
