NotePreviously approved and published information was included and the year date changed on December 11, 2013. 1. Scope* 1.1 This specication covers corrugated steel structural plate, zinc-coat

4、ed, used in the construction of pipe, pipe-arches, arches, underpasses, and special shapes for eld assembly. Appropriate fasteners and accessory materials are also described. The pipe, arches, and other shapes are generally used for drainage purposes, pedestrian and vehicular underpasses, and utilit

5、y tunnels. 1.2 Thisspecicationdoesnotincluderequirementsforbedding,backll,ortherelationshipbetweenearthcoverloadandplate thickness of the pipe. Experience has shown that the successful performance of this product depends upon the proper selection of plate thickness, type of bedding and backll, manuf

6、acture in the plant, and care in the installation. The purchaser must correlate the preceding factors and also the corrosion and abrasion requirements of the eld installation with the plate thickness. The structural design of corrugated steel structural plate pipe and the proper installation procedu

7、res are described in Practices A796/A796M and A807/A807M. 1.3 This specication is applicable to orders in either inch-pound units (as A761) or SI units (as A761M). The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may

8、 not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result innon-conformancewiththestandard.Inch-poundunitsandSIunitsarenotnecessarilyequivalent.SIunitsareshowninbrackets in the text, but they are the applicable values

9、 when the material is ordered to A761M. 1.4 This specication references notes and footnotes which provide explanatory material.These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and gures) shall not be considered as requirements of this specication. 2. Ordering Information 4.1 Orders for material under this specication shall include the following information as necessary to adequately describe the desired product: 4.1.1 Name of material (corrugated ste

27、el structural plate and accessories), 4.1.2 Description of structure (see Section 3), 4.1.3 Number of structures, 4.1.4 ASTM designation and year of issue, as A761 for inch-pound units or A761M for SI units. 4.1.5 Dimensions of structure (diameter or span and rise, and length, and so forth) (see 8.2

33、 nominal centerline length with square ends, longitudinal seams with four M20 bolts per corrugation. 5. Materials 5.1 Flat Plate: 5.1.1 ManufactureThe base steel shall be made by any of the following processes: open-hearth, basic-oxygen, or electric-furnace. 5.1.2 Chemical CompositionThe base metal

34、heat analysis shall conform to the chemical requirements of Table 4. The requirements of this specication shall be met in continuous mass production during which the manufacturer has made analysis of individual heats so as to ensure that material is controlled within the specied limits. 5.1.3 Mechan

35、ical RequirementsThe mechanical properties of the at plate material prior to corrugating shall conform to the requirements in Table 1. For the 6 by 2-in. 150 by 50-mm corrugation, either Type 33 or Type 38 must be specied. NOTE 2The properties given in Table 1 for the at plate normally provide the f

36、ollowing minimum yield strength of strengths after the plate is corrugated: 33 ksi 230 MPa for Type 33 material and 38 ksi 265 MPa for Type 38 material (used in structural design for pipe with 6 by 2-in. 150 by 50-mm corrugations), or corrugations; 44 ksi 300 MPa (used in structural design for pipe

37、with for 15 by 5 1 2-in. 380 by 140-mm and 16 by 6-in. 400 by 150-mm corrugations), orcorrugations; and 42 ksi 290 MPa (used in structural design for pipe with 20 by 9 1 2-in. 500 by 237-mm corrugations) after the plate is corrugated.corrugations. These yield strengths are used in the structural des

38、ign of the pipe. 5.2 BearingsforArchesWhenspecied,metalbearingsforarchesshallbecold-formedchannelsmadefromatplatematerial conforming to 5.1, and not less than 0.188 in. 4.78 mm in specied thickness. 5.3 MembersforStructuralReinforcementSteelmembersforcircumferentialorlongitudinalstiffeners,orseconda

39、rystructural components,shallbefabricatedfromrolledshapesconformingtoSpecicationA36/A36M,orfromatplatematerialconforming to 5.1. NOTE 3When used, steel transverse structural reinforcing members are part of long span or box corrugated steel structural plate structures. Members of these types of struc

40、tures can be designed using PracticeSteel structural members are often used to reinforce long span structural plate structures or structural plate box structures. The structural design requirements for long span structural plate structures are established in AASHTO LRFD A796/A796M. Bridge Design Spe

41、cications, Section 12.8, and inAASHTO Standard Specications for Highway Bridges, Division I, Section 12.7. The structural design of long-span structures is givenrequirements for structural plate box structures are established in AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specications, Section 12.8. The structural de

42、sign of beams is under development by AASHTO. 12.9, and in AASHTO Standard Specications for Highway Bridges, Division I, Section 12.8. 5.4 Assembly FastenersExcept as provided in 5.4.1, bolts and nuts shall conform to the requirements specied in Table 2 (Note 4). Bolts shall have sufficient length t

43、o provide at least full nut engagement when tightened in place.The number of bolts furnished shall be 2% in excess of the theoretical number required to erect the structure or structures.
