Scope*1.1 This specification covers corrugated steel structuralplate, zinc-coated, used in the construction of pipe, pipe-arches, arches, underpasses, and special shapes for field assem-bly. Appropriate fa

4、steners and accessory materials are alsodescribed. The pipe, arches, and other shapes are generallyused for drainage purposes, pedestrian and vehicularunderpasses, and utility tunnels.1.2 This specification does not include requirements forbedding, backfill, or the relationship between earth cover l

5、oadand plate thickness of the pipe. Experience has shown that thesuccessful performance of this product depends upon theproper selection of plate thickness, type of bedding andbackfill, manufacture in the plant, and care in the installation.The purchaser must correlate the preceding factors and also

6、 thecorrosion and abrasion requirements of the field installationwith the plate thickness. The structural design of corrugatedsteel structural plate pipe and the proper installation proceduresare described in Practices A796/A796M and A807/A807M.1.3 This specification is applicable to orders in eithe

7、rinch-pound units (as A761) or SI units (as A761M). Inch-pound units and SI units are not necessarily equivalent. SI unitsare shown in brackets in the text, but they are the applicablevalues when the material is ordered to A761M.1.4 This specification references notes and footnotes whichprovide expl

Connection Classification4.1 Lapped ConnectionsThe corrugated steel structuralplate shall be fabricated with any of the corrugations in 6.2with bolted lap seams in both circumferential and longitudinaldirections. See Fig

28、. 1.4.2 Flange ConnectionsThe corrugated steel structuralplate shall be fabricated with 15 by 512-in. 380 by 140-mmcorrugations with bolted flange seams in both circumferentialand longitudinal directions, oriented such that after curving, allflanges are on the inside of the structure. See Figs. 2-4.

29、 Forarch anchorage plates, the longitudinal flange along the bottomedge may be omitted and bolt hole patterns furnished the sameas that for structural plate with lapped connections.5. Materials6.1 Flat Plate:6.1.1 ManufactureThe base steel shall be made by any ofthe following processes: open-hearth, basic-oxygen, orelectric-furnace.6.1.2 Chemical CompositionThe base metal heat analysisshall conform to the chemic

38、al requirements of Table 6. 39、onsA761/A761M 1736.1.3 Mechanical RequirementsThe mechanical proper-ties of the flat plate material prior to corrugating shall conformto the requirements in Table 1. For the 6 by 2-in. 150 by50-mm corrugation, either Type 33 or Type 38 must bespecified.NOTE 2The properties given in Table 1 for the f

40、lat plate normallyprovide the following minimum yield strengths after the plate is corru-gated: 33 ksi 230 MPa for Type 33 material and 38 ksi 265 MPa forType 38 material with 6 by 2-in. 150 by 50-mm corrugations; 44 ksi300 MPa for 15 by 512-in. 380 by 140-mm and 16 by 6-in. 400 by150-mm corrugation

41、s; and 42 ksi 290 MPa for pipe with 20 by 912-in.500 by 237-mm corrugations. These yield strengths are used in thestructural design of the pipe.6.2 Bearings for ArchesWhen specified, metal bearingsfor arches shall be cold-formed channels made from flat platematerial conforming to 6.1, and not less t

46、sembly FastenersExcept as provided in 6.5.1, boltsand nuts shall conform to the requirements specified in Table 2(Note 4). Bolts shall have sufficient length to provide at least“full nut” engagement when tightened in place. The number ofbolts furnished shall be 2 % in excess of the theoretical numbe

47、rrequired to erect the structure or structures.6.5.1 Bolts and nuts for use with 6 by 2-in. 150 by 50-mm,16 by 6-in. 400 by 150-mm, and 20 by 912-in. 500 by237-mm corrugations shall have the bearing surface of bothbolt and nut shaped to a 1-in. 25-mm radius spherical surface,or shall be standard-typ

48、e bolts and nuts with special washersproviding comparable bearing surface. Bolts and nuts for usewith either lapped or flange connections in 15 by 512-in. 380by 140-mm structural plate shall have either standard bearingsurfaces or bearing surfaces shaped to a 1-in. 25-mm spheri-cal radius.NOTE 4The

49、purchaser should determine the appropriate bolt size andnumber of bolts per corrugation for longitudinal seams in accordance withthe design criteria in Practice A796/A796M or other appropriate guide-lines. Bolts of larger diameter than specified in Table 2 may be requiredwith thicker plates.6.6 Head Wall and Bearing AnchorageBolts and nuts forhead wall anchorage and for anchoring arch bearings tofoundations shall be fabricated as shown on the plans and shallconform to the requirements specified in
