General Requirements for Delivery8.1 Material furnished under this specification shall con-form to the applicable requirements of the current edition of
17、Specification A480/A480M. In case of conflict, the require-ments of this specification shall prevail.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The material shall be of uniform quality consistent withgood manufacturing and inspection practices. The steel qualityshall be satisfactory for the productio
18、n or fabrication offinished parts.NOTE 1Free-machining stainless steels may not equal the quality ofnon-free-machining stainless steels because of the inclusions present toimpart free-machining.9.2 Plates and sheets may be ground to remove surfacedefects, provided such grinding does not reduce the t
19、hicknessor width at any point beyond the allowable dimensionaltolerances. An iron-free abrasive wheel shall be used for suchgrinding and shall be operated at a speed ample to ensure thatdefective areas are cleanly cut out.10. Product Marking10.1 Each sheet, strip, or plate shall be marked on one fac
20、e,in the locations indicated below with the designation numberand its suffix, type, heat number, and the name or mark of themanufacturer. The characters shall be of such size as to beclearly legible. The marking shall be sufficiently stable towithstand normal handling. Unless otherwise specified by
21、thepurchaser, the marking, at the producers option, may be donewith: (1) marking fluid, (2) low-stress blunt-nosed-continuousor low-stress blunt-nosed-interrupted-dot die stamp, (3) avibratory tool with a minimum tip radius of 0.005 in. (0.01mm), or (4) electrochemical etching.10.1.1 Flat sheet, str
22、ip in cut lengths, and plate shall bemarked in two places near the ends or may be continuously linemarked along one edge.10.1.2 Sheet and strip in coils shall be marked near theoutside end of the coil. The inside of the coil shall also bemarked or shall have a tag or label attached and marked withth
