Heat Treatment5.1 All castings shall receive a heat treatment indicated inTable 4. Preliminary heat treatment prior to final heat treatmentas well as multiple tempering is perm
10、itted.5.2 Heat treatment shall be performed after the castingshave been allowed to cool below the transformation range.5.3 The furnace temperature for heat treating shall beeffectively controlled by the use of recording-type pyrometers.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The steel shall conform to the requir
11、ements of chemicalcomposition as prescribed in Table 1.6.2 The product analysis tolerances given in SpecificationA781/A781M shall apply to all product analyses performed oncastings supplied to this specification.7. All other grades and classes shall be thermallystress-relieved or
35、completely reheat-treated following anyrepair welds.9. Test Coupons and Specimens9.1 Test bars shall be poured from the same heat as thecastings represented. Test coupons may be cast integrally withthe castings or as separate blocks similar to those shown in Fig.1 of Specification A781/A781M.9.2 The
36、 bar from which the test piece is taken shall beheat-treated in production furnaces to the same procedure asthe castings it represents.When the bar from which the test piece is taken is notheat-treated as part of the same heat-treatment load as thecasting(s) it qualifies, the austenitizing temperatu
37、res for the barshall be within 25F of those for the casting(s). The temperingtemperature for the bar shall be no higher than 25F above thatof the casting(s) and no higher than that permitted by theheat-treatment procedure for the material. The cycle time ateach temperature shall not exceed that for
38、the casting(s).9.3 Test specimens may be cut from heat-treated castings atthe producers option, instead of from test bars.9.4 If any specimen shows defective machining or exhibitsflaws, it may be discarded and another substituted from thesame heat.9.5 If the results of the mechanical tests for any h
39、eat or lotor casting do not conform to the requirements agreed upon,retests are permitted in accordance with Test Methods andDefinitions A370. At the manufacturers option, castings maybe reheat-treated and retested. Testing after reheat-treatmentshall consist of the full number of specimens taken fr
