Classification4.1 For the purpose of this s
21、pecification conductors areclassified as follows (Explanatory Notes 1 and 2):4.1.1 Class AAFor bare conductors usually used in over-head lines. These conductors are divided into two types asfollows:4.1.1.1 Conductors used for regular over-head line construc-tion, and4.1.1.2 Conductors having a high
22、ratio of mechanicalstrength to current-carrying capacity used for overhead groundwires and for extra-long span construction. 23、g Information5.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information:5.1.1 Quantity of each size, stranding, and class,5.1.2 Conductor size, circular-mil area or AWG (Section 9and Table 1),5.1.3 Number of wires, aluminum and steel (seeTables 1-5),5.1.4 Type of steel c

Requirement for Wires6.1 Before stranding, the aluminum wire used shall meet therequirements of Specification B 230/B 230M.6.2 Before stranding, the steel core wire used shall meet therequirements of
26、Specification B 498/B 498M, B 606, B 802/B 802M, B 803, B 957, or B 958, whichever is applicable.7. Joints7.1 Electric-butt welds, cold-pressure welds, and electric-butt, cold-upset welds in the finished individual aluminumwires composing the conductor may be made during thestranding process. No wel
27、d shall occur within 50 ft 15 m ofa weld in the same wire or in any other wire of the completedconductor (Explanatory Note 3).7.2 There shall be no joints of any kind made in the finishedzinc-coated or zinc-5% aluminum-mischmetal alloy coatedsteel wires.8. Lay8.1 The length of lay of the various lay
28、ers of wires in aconductor shall conform to Table 5 (see Explanatory Note 4).8.2 The direction of lay of the outside layer of aluminumwires shall be right hand unless otherwise specified in thepurchaser order. The direction of lay of the aluminum and steelwires shall be reversed in successive layers
29、.9. Construction9.1 ACSR may be constructed using steel core wire withany one of two types of protective coatings. The acceptablecore wires are:9.1.1 Galvanized steel core wires, with coating ClassesAorC in accordance with Specification B 498/B 498M;9.1.2 High-strength galvanized steel core wire, co

49、ng Class A in accordance with Specification B 958.9.2 The number and diameter of aluminum and steel wiresand the area of cross section of aluminum wires shall conformto the requirements prescribed in Tables 1-5.9.3 Where compressed stranding is required in order toinsulate the conductor properly, one or more aluminum layersof any stranded conductor consisting of 7 wires or more may beslightly compressed. The nominal diameter of the compressedconductor is 3 % below the nominal diameter of noncom-pressed conductor and the area of cross section a
