Materials and Manufacture4.1 The ingot metal for Type R05200 (unallo
8、yed tantalum),for Type R05255 (90 % tantalum 10 % tungsten alloy), TypeR05252 (97.5 % tantalum 2.5 % tungsten), and Type R05240(60 % tantalum 40 % columbium) may be vacuum-arc melted,electron-beam furnace melted, or a combination of these twomethods. The metal for Type R05400 is defined as powder-me
9、tallurgy consolidation unalloyed tantalum.5. Chemical Composition5.1 The material shall conform to the requirements forchemical composition in accordance with Table 1.5.1.1 Analysis for elements not listed in Table 1 and notnormally expected in tantalum shall not be required unlessspecified at time
10、of purchase.5.2 In the event of dispute over conformity of the material tothis specification, upon agreement between the purchaser andthe seller as to procedure, representative samples of thematerial may be submitted to a referee for analysis.6. Permissible Variation6.1 QuantityThe permissible overs
11、hipment shall be nego-tiated between the purchaser and the manufacturer.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The manufacturer shall use care to have each lot of ingotmaterial as uniform in quality as possible.7.2 When specified, the ingots shall be conditioned on thesurface to standards agreed
12、upon between the manufacturer andthe purchaser.7.3 In the conditioned ingot, no abrupt change in diameteror local depressions that will impair subsequent fabrication willbe permitted. The difference between maximum and minimumradius of the conditioned ingot shall not exceed 20 % of themaximum radius

17、sonic tests.Methods and acceptance standards shall be as mutually agreedupon between the purchaser and the manufacturer.7.5 Defects in the ingots that exceed the acceptance stan-dards shall be removed by cropping or surface conditioning,whichever is appropriate. The manufacturer shall be permittedto
18、 remove surface imperfections provided that after eachremoval the requirements of conditioning are met (see 7.3).7.6 The ingots shall be free of imperfections that would bedeemed injurious by the standards of acceptability agreed uponbetween the purchaser and the manufacturer.8. Significance of Nume
19、rical Limits8.1 For the purpose of determining compliance with thespecified limit for requirements of the properties listed in thetables, an observed value or a calculated value shall be roundedas indicated in accordance with the rounding method ofPractice E29.9. Sampling9.1 Care shall be exercised
20、to ensure that the sampleselected for testing is representative of the material and that itis not contaminated by the sampling procedure. If there is anyquestion relating to the sampling techniques or to the analysisthereof, the methods for sampling and analysis shall be asagreed upon between the pu
21、rchaser and the manufacturer.10. Rejection and Rehearing10.1 Material that fails to conform to the requirements ofthis specification may be rejected. Rejection should be reportedto the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case ofdissatisfaction with the results of the test, the producer
22、orsupplier may make claim for a rehearing.11. Referee11.1 In the event of disagreement between the manufacturerand the purchaser on the conformance of the material to therequirements of this specification or any special test specifiedby the purchaser, a mutually acceptable referee shall performthe t
23、ests in question. The results of the referees testing shall beused in determining the conformance of the material to thisspecification.12. Certification12.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, aproducers or suppliers certificate shall be furnished to thepurchaser that the material was
24、manufactured, sampled, tested,and inspected in accordance with the specification and has beenfound to meet the requirements. When specified in the pur-chase order or contract, a report of the test results shall befurnished.13. Packaging and Package Marking13.1 Each ingot shall be marked for identifi
25、cation by metaldie stamping the manufacturers ingot number on the top of theingot. Each box or skid shall be marked or tabbed legibly andconspicuously with the number, type of material, ingotnumber(s), manufacturers identification, nominal size, and thegross, net, and tare weights.13.2 Unless otherw
26、ise specified, material purchased underthis specification must be boxed or banded on skids in such amanner as to secure safe delivery to its destination whenproperly transported by any common carrier.14.
