Scope1.1 This specification2covers three grades of zirconium andzirconium alloy bar and wire.1.2 Unless a single unit is

3、used, for example corrosion massgain in mg/dm2, the values stated in either inch-pound or SIunits are to be regarded separately as standard. The valuesstated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore eachsystem must be used independently of the other. SI valuescannot be mixed with inch-pou

4、nd values.1.3 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to thetest methods portions of this specification. This standard doesnot purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any,associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of thisstandard to establish appropriate safety

6、gy3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 annealed, ndenotes material that exhibits a recrys-tallized grain structure.3.2 Lot Definitions:3.2.1 bar and wire, na lot shall consist of a material of thesame size, shape, condition, and finish produced from the sameingot or powder blend

7、by the same reduction schedule and thesame heat treatment parameters. Unless otherwise agreedbetween manufacturer and purchaser, a lot shall be limited tothe product of an 8 h period for final continuous anneal, or toa single furnace load for final batch anneal.3.2.2 Forms:3.2.2.1 bar, na hot rolled

8、, forged, or cold worked semi-finished solid section product whose cross sectional area isequal to or less than 16 in.210 323 mm2; rectangular bar mustbe less than or equal to 10 in. 254 mm in width and greaterthan 0.1875 in. 4.8 mm in thickness.3.2.2.2 wire, nrounds, flats, or special shapes less t

9、han orequal to 0.1875 in. 4.8 mm in thickness or major dimension.4. Classification4.1 The bar or wire is to be furnished in three grades asfollows:4.1.1 Grade R60702Unalloyed zirconium.4.1.2 Grade R60704Zirconium-tin.4.1.3 Grade R60705Zirconium-niobium.5. Ordering Information5.1 Orders for material

Materials and Manufacture6.1 Bar and wire covered by this specification shall beformed w

12、ith conventional fabrication methods and equipmentfound in primary ferrous and nonferrous metal plants.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee B10 onReactive and Refractory Metals and Alloys and is the direct responsibility ofSubcommittee B10.02 on Zirconium and Hafnium.Curre

Chemical Composition7.1 The material shall conform to the requirements as tochemical composition prescribed in

16、 Table 3.7.2 The manufacturers ingot analysis shall be consideredthe chemical analysis for bar and wire, except for hydrogen andnitrogen, which shall be determined on the finished product.7.3 When requested by the purchaser and stated in thepurchase order, a product analysis for any elements listed

17、inTable 3 shall be made on the finished product.7.3.1 The manufacturers analysis shall be considered asverified if the check analysis confirms the manufacturersreported values within the tolerances prescribed in Table 4.8. Mechanical Properties8.1 The annealed material shall conform to the requireme

18、ntsfor mechanical properties, at room temperature, as prescribedin Table 5. Wire supplied for welding applications shall befurnished with a temper suitable for uniform feeding insemiautomatic or automatic welding equipment.9. Permissible Variations in Dimensions9.1 Unless otherwise specified, all ba

19、r or wire shall conformto the permissible variations in dimensions prescribed in Tables6-14, as follows:9.1.1 Table 6, Dimensional Tolerances for Hot-FinishedRounds, Squares, Octagons, and Hexagons.9.1.2 Table 7, Dimensional Tolerances in Hot-Rolled FlatBars.9.1.3 Table 8, Permissible Variations in

Workmanship, Finish and Appearance10.1 Bars in the hot-finished condition which will conformto the tolerances prescribed in Tables 6 and 7, shall befurnished with one of the following finishes as designated onthe purchase order:10.1.1 Not descaled,10.1.

23、2 Mechanically descaled,10.1.3 Mechanically descaled and pickled, and10.1.4 Turned (round bars only).10.2 Bars and wire in cold-finished condition that willconform to the tolerances prescribed in Tables 8-12, shall befurnished with one of the following finishes as designated onthe purchase order.10.

24、2.1 Cold drawn or cold rolled, or swaged,10.2.2 Turned (round bars only),10.2.3 Centerless ground (round bars only), and10.2.4 Polished (round bars only).10.3 Bars or wire shall be free of cracks, seams, slivers,blisters, burrs, and other injurious imperfections in accordancewith standards of accept

44、eded, the cross-head speed may be increased to approxi-mately 0.05 in./in. mm/mm/min to failure.13.2 Chemical TestsThe chemical analyses shall be con-ducted by the standard techniques normally used by themanufacturer.14. Inspection14.1 The manufacturer shall inspect the material covered bythis speci

45、fication prior to shipment. If so specified in thepurchase order, the purchaser or his representative may witnessthe testing and inspection of the material at the place ofmanufacture. In such cases the purchaser shall state in hispurchase order which tests he desires to witness. The manu-facturer sh

46、all give ample notice to the purchaser as to the timeand place of the designated tests. If the purchasers represen-tative does not present himself at the time agreed upon for thetesting, the manufacturer shall consider the requirement forpurchasers inspection at the place of manufacture to bewaived.

47、14.2 The manufacturer shall afford the inspector represent-ing the purchaser, without charge, all reasonable facilities tosatisfy him that the material is being furnished in accordancewith this specification. This inspection shall be so conducted asnot to interfere unnecessarily with the operation o

48、f the works.15. Rejection15.1 Rejection for failure of the material to meet therequirements of this specification shall be reported to themanufacturer. Unless otherwise specified, rejected materialmay be returned to the manufacturer at the manufacturersexpense, unless the purchaser receives, within three weeks ofthe notice of rejection, other instructions for disposition.16. Certification16.1 A producer or supplier shall furnish the purchaser witha certificate that the material was manufactured, sampled,tested, and inspected in accordance with this specification andhas
