Material and Manufacture6.1 Material:6.1.1 The material of manufacture shall be a cast bar, slab,cake, billet, etc. of Copper Alloy UNS No. C15100 of suchpurity and soundness as to be suitable for processing in to theproducts prescri

Chemical Composition7.1 The material shall conform to the chemical compositionprescribed in Table 1.7.2 These composition limits do not preclude the presenceof other elements. By agreement between manufacturer andpurchaser, limits ma
18、y be established and analysis required forunnamed elements.7.3 When all elements listed in Table 1 are analyzed, thesum of results shall be 99.9 % minimum.8. Grain Size for Annealed Temper9.1 Grain size shall be the standard requirement for allproduct in the annealed tempers.9.2 Acceptance or rejection based upon grain size shalldepend only on the average grain size of a test specimen takenfrom each of two sample portions, and each

A super-ficial film or residual light lubricant is normally present and isacceptable unless otherwise specified.13.2 The surface finish and
29、appearance shall be the normalcommercial quality for the alloy, thickness, and temper or-dered. When application information is provided with purchaseorder, the surface shall be that commercially producible for theapplication. Superficial films of discoloration, or lubricants, ortarnish inhibitors a
30、re permissible unless otherwise specified.14. Sampling14.1 SamplingThe lot size, portion size, and selection ofsample pieces shall be as follows:14.1.1 Lot SizeAn inspection lot shall be 40 000 lb (18144 kg) or less material of the same mill form, temper, andthickness, subject to inspection at one t
31、ime.14.1.2 Portion SizeA portion shall be selected from eightindividual pieces, and shall be taken so as to be representativeof those pieces. If the lot consists of less than eight pieces, asample shall be taken from each individual piece.14.2 Chemical AnalysisThe sample for chemical analysisshall b
32、e taken in accordance with Practice E255 for product inits final form taken from the pieces selected in 14.1.2 andcombined into one composite sample. The minimum weight ofthe composite sample shall be 150 g. Unless otherwise requiredby the purchaser, at the time the order is placed, the manufac-ture
33、r shall have the option of determining conformance tochemical composition by analyzing samples taken at the timethe castings are poured or samples taken from the semifinishedproduct if heat identity can be maintained throughout alloperations. If the manufacturer determines the chemical com-position
34、during manufacture, he shall not be required to sampleand analyze the finished product.14.2.1 When samples are taken at the time the castings arepoured, at least one sample shall be taken from each group ofcastings poured from the same source of molten metal.14.2.2 When samples are taken from semifi
35、nished product,a sample shall be taken to represent each 10 000 lbs (5 000 kg)or fraction thereof, except that no more than one sample shallbe required per piece.14.2.3 Only one sample need be taken from the semifin-ished product of one cast bar from a single melt chargecontinuously processed.14.3 S
36、amples for all Other TestsSamples for all other testsshall be taken from the sample portion in 14.1.2 and be of aconvenient size to accommodate the test and comply with therequirements of the appropriate ASTM product standard andtest method.15. Number of Tests and Retests15.1 Tests15.1.1 Chemical An
37、alysisChemical composition shall bedetermined in accordance with the element mean of the resultsfrom the sample taken at the time the castings are poured, atleast one sample shall be analyzed for each group of castingspoured simultaneously from the same source of molten metal.15.1.2 When samples are
38、 taken from the semifinished orfinished product, at least one sample representative of theproduct of each cast bar from a single melt charge continuouslyprocessed with heat identity maintained shall be analyzed.15.2 Other Tests:15.2.1 Mechanical Properties and Grain SizeUnless oth-erwise provided in
39、 the product specification, test specimensshall be taken from two of the sample pieces selected inaccordance with 14.1.2. The required tests shall be made oneach of the specimens so selected.15.2.2 Electrical ResistivityResults shall be reported fromfour of the sample pieces selected in accordance w
40、ith 14.1.2.The required tests shall be made on each of the specimens soselected.15.3 Retests:15.3.1 If the chemical analysis of the specimens preparedfrom samples selected in accordance with 14.1.2 fails toconform to the specified limits, analysis shall be made on anew composite sample prepared from
41、 the pieces selected inaccordance with 14.1.2.15.3.1.1 Chemical Analysis, shall be determined as theaverage of at least two replicate determinations for eachelement specified.15.3.2 If one of the two tests made to determine any of themechanical or grain size requirements fails to meet a specifiedlim
42、it, this test shall be repeated on the remaining pieces,maximum of two, selected in accordance with 14.1.2, and theresults of both of these tests shall comply with the specifiedrequirements.15.3.3 If any test specimen shows defective machining ordevelops flaws, it may be discarded and another specim
43、ensubstituted.16. Specimen Preparation16.1 Grain SizeAll specimens shall be prepared as speci-fied in Method E3.16.2 Mechanical TestsAll samples of strip less than34 in.wide shall be pulled in full size when practicable. Machinedtest specimens shall be as specified in Test Method E8/E8M,Fig. 1 for s
44、heet type specimens.16.3 Chemical CompositionThe composite sample forlaboratory analysis shall, in case of disagreement, be preparedin accordance with Practice E255.17. Inspection19.1 The manufacturer, or supplier, shall inspect and maketest necessary to verify the furnished product conforms tospecification requirements.19.2 Source inspection of the product by the purchaser maybe agreed upon by the manufacturer, or supplier, and thepurchaser as part of the purchase order. In such case, the natureof the facilities needed to satisfy the inspector, representing thepurchaser, that the product is being furnished in accordancewith the specification, shall be included in the agreement.
