15、tent of up to 7.2 %, toprevent depletion of the aluminum content of the bath.6.3.2 Method of AnalysisThe determination of chemicalcomposition shall be made in accordance with suitable chemi-cal (Test Methods E 47 for Tin), ICP Argon Plasma Spectro-metric (Practice E 1277), or other methods. In case
16、of dispute,the results secured by Practice E 1277 shall be the basis ofacceptance.6.3.3 A standard practice of X-ray fluorescence spectrom-etry for determination of cerium and lanthanum in aZn5A1MM alloy has been established by the InternationalLead Zinc Research Organization (Standard Practice GF-1
17、). Incase of dispute, the results secured by Practice E 1277 shall bethe basis of acceptance.7. Tensile Test7.1 The Zn5A1MM-coated steel core wire shall conformto the tensile and elongation requirements prescribed in Table2.7.2 Tensile tests shall be conducted in accordance with TestMethods and Defi
18、nitions A 370, using the initial settings fordetermining stress at 1 % extension given in Table 3 of thisspecification.7.3 Test SpecimensThe test specimens shall be free ofbends or kinks other than the curvature resulting from the usualcoiling operations. Any hand straightening necessary to permitin
19、sertion of the specimen in the jaws of the testing machineshall be performed by drawing between wood blocks or bysome other equally satisfactory means.8. Wrap Test8.1 The material, as represented by the test specimens, shallnot fracture when the Zn5A1MM alloy-coated wire iswrapped at a rate not exce
20、eding 15 turns/min in a close helixof at least eight turns around a cylindrical mandrel with adiameter equal to three times the specified diameter of the wireunder test, 65%.9. Coating Test9.1 The Zn5A1MM alloy-coated wire shall conform tothe coating requirements prescribed in Table 4.9.2 The coatin
21、g test shall be conducted in accordance withTest Method A 90/A 90M.10. Adherence of Coating Test10.1 The Zn5A1MM alloy-coated wire shall be capableof being wrapped in a close helix at a rate not exceeding 15turns/min around a cylindrical mandrel having a diameter asprescribed in Table 5, without cra
22、cking or flaking the coating tosuch an extent that any Zn5A1MM alloy can be removed byrubbing with the bare fingers.NOTE 1Loosening or detachment during the adhesion test of super-ficial, small particles of Zn5A1MM alloy formed by mechanicalpolishing of the surface of the coated wire shall not be co
23、nsidered causefor rejection.11. Joints11.1 No joints shall be made in the finished wire.11.2 Joints may be made at any stage of processing prior tofinal cold drawing by the electric butt-weld or flash orflash-welding process.11.3 Welding equipment and procedure shall be such that itcan be demonstrat
24、ed that the ultimate tensile strength of afinished wire specimen containing the welded section shall benot less than 96 % of the specified minimum stress at 1 %extension.11.4 A welded section shall not be required to meet thestress at 1 % extension, elongation, and wrap tests.12. Density and Resisti
25、vity12.1 For the purpose of calculating mass per unit length,cross sections, and so forth, the density of Zn5A1MMalloy-coated steel wire at 20C shall be taken as 0.281lb/in.3(7780 kg/m3).12.2 A maximum resistivity of Zn5A1MM alloy-coatedsteel wire is not guaranteed but a typical value of 0.19157Vmm2
26、/m may be used for purpose of calculation. For conver-sion to other units of conductivity or resistivity, refer to TestMethod B 193.13. Dimensions and Permissible Variations13.1 The specified diameter of the Zn5A1MM alloy-coated wire shall be expressed in decimal fractions of an inchto four decimal
27、places, or in millimetres to three decimalplaces.13.2 For diameter measurements and diameter tolerance,specified diameters shall be rounded to the closest 0.0005 in.(0.01 mm).13.3 The average of the largest and smallest diameterreadings, each to the nearest 0.001 in. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance14.1 The Zn5A1MM alloy coating shall be reasonablysmooth, continuous, of reasonably uniform thickness and freeof imperfections not consistent with good commercial practice.15. Numbe
31、r of Tests and Retests15.1 One test specimen shall be taken from each 5000 lb(2500 kg) or fraction thereof in the inspection lot.15.2 Each specimen shall be tested for compliance withSections 7, 8, 10, and 13. At least half of the specimens shallbe tested for compliance with Section 9.15.3 Should on
32、e or more of the test specimens fail any ofthe tests specified, the nonconforming coil or coils may beremoved and the balance of the lot subjected to retests. Forretest purposes, two additional coils for each 5000 lbs (2500kg) in the lot shall be sampled and tested for the property inwhich the origi
33、nal sample failed to comply.15.4 Should any of the retest specimens fail to meet theproperties specified, the lot represented by the test specimensshall be rejected.15.5 Instead of rejecting the entire lot as provided in 15.4,the producer may test specimens from every coil in the lot forthe property
34、 in which failure occurred, and reject only thenonconforming coils.16. Inspection16.1 Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchaseorder, the manufacturer shall be responsible for the perfor-mance of all inspection and test requirement specified.16.2 All inspections and tests shall be made
35、at the place ofmanufacture unless otherwise especially agreed to by themanufacturer and the purchaser at the time of the purchase.16.3 The manufacturer shall afford the inspector represent-ing the purchaser all reasonable manufacturers facilities tosatisfy him that the material is being furnished in
36、 accordancewith this specification.17. Rejection and Rehearing17.1 Material that fails to conform to the requirements ofthis specification shall be rejected. Rejection should be re-ported to the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. Incase of dissatisfaction with the results of the test, the
37、 produceror supplier may make claim for a rehearing.18. Certification18.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, aproducers or suppliers certification shall be furnished to thepurchaser showing that the material was manufactured,sampled, tested, and inspected in accordance with this speci
38、-fication and has been found to meet the requirements.
