Materials5.1 Unless otherwise specified, only aluminum alloy con-forming t
43、o the requirements of Specification B179 or produc-ers foundry scrap (identified as being made from alloyconforming to Specification B179) shall be used in the remelt-ing furnace from which molten metal is taken for pouringdirectly into castings. Additions of small amounts of modifiersand grain refi
44、ning elements or alloys are permitted.5.1.1 Pure materials, recycled materials, and master alloysand material not conforming to Specification B179 may beused to make alloys conforming to this specification, providedchemical analysis can be taken and adjusted to conform toTable 1 prior to pouring any
45、 castings.6. Manufacture6.1 The responsibility of furnishing die castings that can belaid out and machined to the final dimensions within thepermissible variations specified, as shown on the blueprints ordrawings, shall rest with the producer, except when the die isfurnished by the purchaser.7. Qual
46、ity Assurance7.1 Responsibility for InspectionWhen specified in thecontract or purchase order, the producer or supplier is respon-sible for the performance of all inspection and test require-ments specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in thecontract or order, the producer or supplier may u
47、se his own orany other suitable facilities for the performance of the inspec-tion and test requirements specified herein, unless disapprovedby the purchaser. The purchaser shall have the right to performany of the inspections and tests set forth in this specification.Quality assurance standards shal
48、l be agreed upon between theproducer or supplier and purchaser at the time a contract ororder is placed.7.2 Lot DefinitionAn inspection lot shall be defined asfollows:7.2.1 An inspection lot shall consist of the production fromeach die or compound die on each machine for each 24 hduring the first we
49、ek of normal operation and the productionfor each 48 h thereafter of normal operation. Any significantchange in the machine, composition, die or continuity ofoperation shall be considered as the start of a new lot. Diecastings inspected by this method shall be so marked orhandled during the finishing operations as not to lose theiridentity.7.2.2 Each die casting of a randomly selected sample shallbe examined to determine conformance to the requirementswith respect to general quality, dimensions, and identificationmarking.
