Scope1.1 This specification covers aluminum 1350-H19 (extrahard), 1350-H16 or -H26 (34 hard), 1350-H14 or -H2

3、4 (12hard), 1350-H142 or -H242 (12 hard), and aluminum alloy8XXX series as listed in Specification B 800 for tempers “O”and H1X or H2X, bare stranded conductors composed of oneor more roller shaped or die compressed layers of helicallylayed wires. The conductors are for general use for electricalpur

4、poses (Explanatory Notes 1 and 2).NOTE 1For the purposes of this specification, single input wire (SIW)construction is defined as follows: a stranded conductor design method-ology that varies the number of wires within a range of conductor sizes inorder to permit that range of conductor sizes to be

5、constructed from asingle wire size.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound or SI units are to beregarded separately as standard. The values in each system arenot exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be usedindependently of the other. Combining values from the twosystems may result in nonconfo

6、rmance with the specification.1.2.1 For density, resistivity, and temperature, the valuesstated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.NOTE 2Prior to 1975, aluminum 1350 was designated as EC alumi-num.NOTE 3The aluminum and temper designations conform to ANSIH35.1. Classification3.1 The conductors described in this specification are in-tended for subsequent insulation or covering. The classificationof these conductors is SIW compressed.4. 31、6 1.42 16.9 55.4B9010425.1.1 For conductor tempers other than H19, the manufac-turer shall have the following options on manufacturingmethod:5.1.1.1 Strand the conductor from wires drawn to finaltemper;5.1.1.2 Strand the conductor from wires drawn to H19temper and annealed to final temper prior to s

32、tranding; or5.1.1.3 Strand the conductor from H19 wires and anneal thestranded conductor to final temper.5.2 Before stranding, the aluminum wire used shall meet therequirements of Specifications B 230/B 230M, B 609, orB 800, whichever is applicable.5.3 All wires in the conductor shall be of the same

33、 temper.6. Joints6.1 Only cold-pressure joints or electric-butt, cold-upsetjoints may be made in the wires of SIW compressed or SIWconductor.6.2 The minimum distance between joints in the wires of thecompleted conductor shall be no less than 1 ft (0.3 m).7. Lay7.1 For SIW compressed stranded conduct

34、ors manufacturedfor subsequent covering or insulating, the average lay length ofthe wires shall be not less than 8 nor more than 16 times theouter diameter of the finished conductor. For conductors of 37wires or more, this requirement shall apply to the wires in theouter two layers only, unless othe

35、rwise agreed upon.7.2 Other lays for special purposes shall be furnished byspecial agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser(Explanatory Note 3).7.3 For conductors manufactured for subsequent coveringor insulating, the direction of lay of the outer layer shall be lefthand and may be rever

36、sed or unidirectional/unilay in succes-sive layers, unless otherwise specified by the purchaser.8. Construction8.1 The areas of cross section, the minimum number ofwires, and diameters of the finished strand shall conform to therequirements prescribed in Table 1.9. Rated Strength of Conductor9.1 The

37、 rated strength of 1350-H19 conductors shall betaken as the percent, indicated in Table 2, of the sum of thestrengths of the component wires, calculated using the nominalwire diameters and the specified minimum average tensilestrength given in Specification B 230/B 230M for 1350-H19wire.9.2 The rate

38、d strengths of 8000 series conductors shall betaken as the percent, indicated in Specification B 801, of thesum of strengths of the component wires, calculated using thenominal wire diameters and the specified minimum averagetensile strength given in Specification B 800 for 8000 serieswire.9.3 Calcu

39、lations for rated strengths of 1350-H16, -H26,-H14, -H24, -H142, and -H242 conductors shall be made onthe basis of the strengths of the component wires, using thenominal wire diameters and the specified maximum andminimum tensile strengths for the appropriate temper of therespective component wires

40、given in Specification B 609. Theminimum rated strengths of the conductors shall be taken as thesum of the calculated minimum strengths of the componentwires multiplied by the rating factor given in Table 2. Themaximum rated strength of the conductors shall be taken as thesum of the calculated maxim

41、um strength of the componentwires multiplied by the rating factors given in Table 2.9.4 Calculations for rated strengths of 8000 series “O”temper H1X and H2X conductors shall be made on the basis ofthe strengths of the component wires, using the nominal wirediameter for the noncompacted construction

42、 and the specifiedmaximum and minimum tensile strengths of the appropriatetemper of the respective component wires given in Specifica-tion B 800. The minimum rated strengths of the conductorsshall be taken as the sum of the calculated minimum strengthsof the component wires multiplied by the rating

43、factor given inSpecification B 801. The maximum rated strength of theconductors shall be taken as the sum of the calculatedmaximum strengths of the component wires.9.5 Rated-strength and breaking-strength values shall berounded to three significant figures, in the final value only, inaccordance with

44、 the rounding method of Practice E 29.10. Density10.1 For the purpose of calculating mass, cross sections, andso forth, the density of aluminum 1350 shall be taken as 0.0975lb/in.3(2705 kg/m3) at 20C. The density of 8000 seriesaluminum alloys shall be taken as 0.098 lb/in.3(2.710 g/cm3)at20C.11. Mas

45、s and Electrical Resistance11.1 The mass and electrical resistance of a unit length of astranded conductor are a function of the length of lay. Theapproximate mass and electrical resistance may be determinedusing the standard increments shown in Table 3. When greateraccuracy is desired, the incremen

Variation in Area12.1 The area of cross section of the completed conductorshall be not less than 98 % of the area of cross section of theconductor size listed in column 1 of Table 1.
