Scope*1.1 This specification covers certain zinc-aluminum (Zn-Al)alloys in ingot form for re-melting for use in the production ofhot-dip c

3、oatings on steel. Chemical Requirements5.1 LimitsThe alloys shall conform to the requirements asto chemical composition prescribed in Table 1. Conformanceshall be determined by the producer by analyzing samplestaken at the t

12、ime ingots are made. Sampling for Determination of Chemical Composition6.1 See appropriate requirements in Specification B949.7. Methods for Chemical

16、Analysis7.1 The determination of chemical composition shall bemade in accordance with Specification B949.7.2 In case of dispute, the results secured by an approvedmethod (or combination of approved methods), or by a methodagreed upon by both parties, shall be the basis of acceptance.7.2.1 Approved m

17、ethods include: Test Methods E536,E1277, ISO 3815-1, or ISO 3815-2.NOTE 2Test Method E1277 is directly applicable up to 8 % Al, in anunmodified form. ISO 3815-1 and ISO 3815-2 are generic methodsapplied to zinc and zinc alloys. Each of the methods may be modified andformatted for the alloy to be ass

18、ayed. An experienced chemist, usingsuitable and/or traceable standards along with valid quality assurancetechniques, will be able to perform and validate the methods anddemonstrate acceptable precision and accuracy.8. Materials and Manufacture8.1 The alloys may be made by any approved process.8.2 Th

21、s to conform to the requirements ofthis specification may be rejected. Rejection should be reportedto the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case ofdissatisfaction with the results of the test, the producer orsupplier may make claim for a rehearing. If the rehearingestablishes that the

26、n expressing the specified limit, in accordancewith the rounding procedure in Section 3 of Practice E29.BBy agreement between purchaser and supplier, analysis may be required andlimits established for elements or compounds not specified in the table of chemicalcomposition.CZn-Al alloy ingot for hot-

27、dip coatings may contain antimony and copper inamounts of up to 0.002 and 0.1 %, respectively. No harmful effects have ever beennoted due to the presence of these elements up to these concentrations and,therefore, analyses are not required for these elements.DMagnesium may be specified by the buyer

28、up to 0.75 % maximum.EFor Type 10 and Type 15, the mischmetal (cerium + lanthanum) may be specifiedby the buyer up to 0.10 % maximum.FFor Type 5, if the mischmetal (cerium + lanthanum) is specified by the buyer, boththe buyer and producer shall indicate Specification B750 (GALFAN is a registeredtrad

29、emark of the GALFAN Technology Centre, Inc.) as the referenced standardand the composition shall meet all the requirements of that standard.GZirconium and titanium may each be specified by the buyer up to 0.02 %maximum.HLead and cadmium, and to a lesser extent tin and antimony, are known to causeint

30、ergranular corrosion in zinc-aluminum alloys. For this reason it is important tomaintain the levels of these elements below the limits specified.IExcept antimony, copper, magnesium, zirconium, titanium, and the mischmetal(cerium + lanthanum).B997 162SUMMARY OF CHANGESCommittee B02 has identified the
