Scope1.1 This specification covers the requiremen

3、ts for annealed,monolithic flat soda-lime glass supplied as cut sizes or stocksheets.1.2 This specification is applicable for laboratory and fieldevaluation only to the extent that such evaluation can be carriedout in accordance with the test method(s) prescribed herein.1.3 This specification covers

4、 the quality requirements offlat, transparent, clear, and tinted glass. This glass is intendedto be used primarily for architectural glazing products includ-ing: coated glass, insulating glass units, laminated glass,mirrors, spandrel glass, or similar uses.NOTE 1Reflective distortion is not addresse

8、ons of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 associated distortion, nalteration of viewed imagescaused by variations in glass flatness or inhomogeneousportions within the glass.3.2.2 bevel, nangled surface at the edge of a lite of glass.3.2.3 blemish, nimperfection in the body or on the surfaceof th

9、e glass; for the purpose of this specification, blemishes aredivided into two categories:3.2.3.1 linear blemish, nscratches, rubs, digs, and othersimilar imperfections, which may be straight or curved innature. If curved, the length of such a blemish is to bemeasured from end to end along the curve.

10、3.2.3.2 point blemish, ncrush, knots, dirt, stones, gaseousinclusions, and other similar imperfections.3.2.4 chip depth, nmeasured distance of a chip from theface of the glass into the thickness.3.2.5 chip length , ndistance parallel to the edge of theglass from one edge of a chip to the other.3.2.6

11、 chip width, nperpendicular distance from the edgeof the glass to the inner edge of the chip.3.2.7 crush, nlightly pitted condition with a dull grayappearance.3.2.8 cut size, nglass ordered cut to its final intended size.3.2.9 dig, ndeep, short scratch.3.2.10 dirt, nsmall particle of foreign matter

12、embedded inthe surface of flat glass.3.2.11 fire crack, nsmall, sometimes microscopic fissurein the edge of wired or patterned glass.3.2.12 flare, nprotrusion on the glass edge or corner of anotherwise rectangular surface.3.2.13 gaseous inclusion, nround or elongated bubble inthe glass.3.2.14 knot,

19、 the glass, with the purpose of reducing glare(visible transmittance), solar heat gain, or visible/ultraviolet(UV) transmittance.3.2.25 v-chip, nv-shaped imperfection in the edge of theglass lite.3.2.26 vision interference angle, nviewing angle at whichdistortion in transmission first appears (see F

20、ig. 1).3.2.27 wired glass, nflat glass with a layer of wire meshembedded in the glass.3.2.28 bow, na condition in which a lite of flat glassdeparts from a true plane.3.2.29 clear glass, nglass formulated to have high trans-mittance in the visible spectrum greater than 82 % (reference toNFRC 300 meas

21、urement method) at a standard thickness of 6mm (1/4 in.) with high clarity and lack of color as compared totinted glass of the same thickness. This includes glass withultra high transmittance for additional clarity. Edge color ofclear glass can vary so the glass manufacturer should beconsulted regar

22、ding an application where edge color is anaesthetic consideration.4. Classification and Intended UseNOTE 2When referencing this specification, the user shall indicate thetitle and date of the specification, and the type, class, quality (includingcut-size or stock sheets), size, and thickness of the

30、 Shell ChipsShell chips are permitted within therequirements shown in Table 1.5.1.1.2 V-ChipsVisible V-chips are not permitted. (See6.1.1 for viewing criteria.)5.1.2 Dimensional TolerancesTolerances for length,width, squareness, and thickness for rectangular shapes shall bein accordance with Table 2

31、. Nonrectangular shapes shall usethe same thickness tolerances in Table 2. For linear straight linedimensions of nonrectangular shapes, the length and widthrequirements in Table 2 shall be used. For curvilinear dimen-sions of nonrectangular shapes, tolerances shall be as agreedupon by the involved p

32、arties.5.1.3 BlemishesAllowable blemishes are addressed inSection 6 and in Tables 3-5.5.1.4 UniformityFor glass with a thickness of 6 mm (14in.) or less, the glass shall not vary in thickness more than 0.1mm (0.004 in.) over a 100 mm (4 in.) length.5.1.5 DistortionReams, strings, lines, and other al
