It may be used to verifyconformance to a specified requirement for temperature ofconcrete.3.2 Concrete containing aggregate of a

8、 nominal maximumsize greater than 3 in. 75 mm may require up to 20 min for thetransfer of heat from aggregate to mortar. (See ACI Committee207.1R Report.4)4. Apparatus4.1 Container, shall be large enough to provide at least 3 in.75 mm of concrete in all directions around the sensor of thetemperature

9、 measuring device; concrete cover must also be atleast three times the nominal maximum size of the coarseaggregate.4.2 Temperature Measuring Device, shall be capable ofaccurately measuring the temperature of the freshly mixedconcrete to 61F60.5 C throughout a range of 30 to 120F 0 to 50 C. The desig

10、n of the temperature measuringdevice shall be such that it allows 3 in. 75 mm or moreimmersion during operation.4.3 Partial immersion liquid-in-glass thermometers (andpossibly other types) shall have a permanent mark to which thedevice must be immersed without applying a correction factor.4.4 Refere

11、nce Temperature Measuring Device, shall bereadable and accurate to 60.5 F 0.2 C at the verificationpoints in 5.1. A certificate or report that verifies the accuracyshall be available in the laboratory for review. Accuracy ofliquid-in-glass reference temperature measuring devices shallbe verified onc

12、e. Verification of direct-reading resistance ref-erence temperature measuring devices shall be performedevery twelve months. The certificate or report shall providedocumentation that the reference standard used in the verifi-cation is traceable to the National Institute of Standards andTechnology (N

Calibration of Temperature Measuring Device5.1 Each temperature measuring device used for determin-ing temperature of freshly mixed concrete shall be calibratedannually, or whenever there is a question of accuracy. Thiscalibration shall be performed by comparing the readings of thetemperatur

18、 F0.2 C during the period of the test.5.2.2 Have both the temperature and reference temperaturemeasuring devices maintained in the bath for a minimum of 5min before reading temperatures.5.2.3 Continuously circulate the bath liquid to provide auniform temperature.5.2.4 Slightly tap thermometers conta

Sampling Concrete6.1 It is acceptable to measure the temperature of freshlymixed concrete in either the transporting equipment or theforms after discharge provided the sensor of the temperaturemea

20、suring device has at least 3 in. 75 mm of concrete coverin all directions.6.2 If the transporting equipment or placement forms are notused as the container, a sample shall be prepared as follows:6.2.1 Immediately, prior to sampling the freshly mixedconcrete, dampen (with water) the sample container.

21、6.2.2 Sample the freshly mixed concrete in accordance withPractice C 172, except that composite samples are not requiredif the only purpose for obtaining the sample is to determinetemperature.6.2.3 Place the freshly mixed concrete into the container.7. Procedure7.1 Position the temperature measuring

22、 device so that theend of the temperature sensing portion is submerged a mini-mum of 3 in. 75 mm into the freshly mixed concrete. 24、 obtaining the sample, exceptfor concrete that contains a nominal maximum size aggregategreater than 3 in. 75 mm. With aggregate greater than 3 in.75 mm, make sure that the temperature has stabilized beforerecording the reading (See Note 1).NOTE 1It may require as much as 20 min before the temperatu

Precision and Bias9.1 The single operator standard deviation for measurementof concrete temperature has been found to be 0.5 F.5Therefore, results of two properly conduc
