Scope1.1 This specification covers splash bar and corrugatedsheet type asbestos-cement products used as cooling tow

3、er fill.1.2 Drift eliminators or demisters, louvers, partitioning andcasing panels are covered in Specifications C 1080. Asbestos-cement pipes are covered in Specification C 296 and Specifi-cations C 428. Asbestos-cement flat sheet fill (heat exchangesurfaces) are specified in Specification C 1082.1

The inch-pound units in parentheses are forinformation only.1.4 WarningBreathing of asbestos dust is hazardous.Asbestos and asbestos products present demonstrated healthrisks for users and for those with whom they come into con

5、tact.In addition to other precautions, when working with asbestos-cement products, minimize the dust that results. Classification4.1 Splash Bar Classification:4.1.1

12、 Type ISplash bars consist of corrugated autoclavedpressed asbestos-cement sheets for the most demanding appli-cations that meet the requirements set forth in Table 1.4.1.2 Type IISplash bars consist of corrugated pressedasbestos-cement sheets for intermediate service that meetrequirements presented

31、of a refereetest method.8.5 Harkort Test:8.5.1 ScopeThis test method covers the determination ofresistance to repeated combined thermal and moisture shocksfor corrugated asbestos-cement fill for use in cooling towers.8.5.2 Significance and UseThe Harkort test provides anevaluation of the resistance

32、to thermal and moisture fluctua-tions. It is used to estimate the durability of products.8.5.3 HazardsRefer to 1.4.8.5.4 Procedure:8.5.4.1 The specimen is dried in an oven at 100 6 2C (2126 3F) for 2 6 0.2 h before rapidly dunking it in 10 6 0.1 kg(20 6 0.2 lb) of water at 20 6 2C (68 6 3F) for 10 6

33、 0.2min. Then the specimen is examined for signs of deterioration.Check and inspect as in 8.4.4.2. Inspection9.1 Inspection of the material shall be agreed upon by thepurchaser and the supplier as part of the purchase contract.10. Rejection and Rehearing10.1 Mater

37、ial that fails to conform to the requirements ofthis specification may be rejected. Rejection shall be reportedto the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case ofdissatisfaction with the results of the tests, the producer orsupplier may make claim for a rehearing.11. Certification11.1 Wh

38、en specified in the purchase order or contract, aproducers or suppliers certification shall be furnished to thepurchaser that the material was manufactured, sampled, testedand inspected in accordance with this specification and hasbeen found to meet the requirements. When specified in thepurchase or

39、der or contract, a report of the test results shall befurnished.11.2 Upon request of the purchaser in the contract or orderthe certification of an independent third party indicatingconformance to the requirements of this specification may beaccepted instead of the manufacturers certification.12. Pro

40、duct Marking12.1 For Type I and II products it is necessary to print oneach piece, in alkali resistant ink, the identification of the type.13.
